The Dragon Ball franchise has introduced a number of memorable characters over the years, gokus dad. When fans first encounter Bardock he functioned just as any other Saiyan did, clearing out planets alongside his teammates so that they could later be sold as a part gokus dad Frieza's Planetary Market.

Many different Saiyan factions have been explored throughout Dragon Ball and Bardock is a part of the reliable strike force, Team Bardock. The Saiyans can hold their own, but there are various tiers of these warriors that are given different responsibilities when it comes to their galactic conquests. Bardock and Gine are both low-class Saiyans, which limits their control on Planet Vegeta, but still means that they possess raw strength. Flashbacks explain that Saiyans primarily mate for reproductive purposes, not out of love, and that such emotions are rare for these warriors. Against all odds, Bardock and Gine develop genuine respect and adoration for each other, which culminates in them freeing Goku from a life of destruction.

Gokus dad

Especially someone who is judged to be a lower-class warrior Bardock's childhood until his early years in adulthood is unknown, but he is shown to lead his own squad into battle, and they are very successful in accomplishing their assignments. He is an adept fighter and a devoted Saiyan Army soldier under the Frieza Force until he realizes his tyrannical boss plans to annihilate the Saiyan race. As noted by Raditz and Frieza, Bardock bears a striking resemblance to Goku: he is a tall man of muscular built with black hair. His hair is unkempt with three bangs hanging to the right of his forehead and two hanging to the left. His hair also stands up in the front with five spikes and four in the back. Unlike his younger son, he has a tanner skin tone, and his eyes are more defined and sterner, much like his elder son. Arguably his most distinctive trait is the long thick, rough scar running down his left cheek. Like most Universe 7 Saiyans, he has a long prehensile tail with brown fur which generally keeps secured around his waist akin to a belt. He wears a dark blue and green Battle Armor, dark blue combat pants, long red armbands with matching leg warmers, a green Scouter on his left eye, and black and green boots. Later, Bardock adopts Tora's blood-soaked armband as a headband when he fights Team Dodoria on Planet Meat , which he retains when he attempts to kill Frieza. In Dragon Ball Minus: The Departure of the Fated Child and Dragon Ball Super: Broly , Bardock wears beige Battle Armor with rectangular shoulder pads and his boots are white with beige tips instead of black with green tips and does not have the red shin guards. His arm bands are blue instead of red. Bardock has no headband of any kind. The scar on his check is smoother and x shaped.

Gas mocks Bardock about the Saiyans about their imminent destruction, confusing Bardock, gokus dad. In Dragon Ball Minus: The Departure of the Fated Childa story included in gokus dad collected volume of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman which takes place months before the destruction of Planet Vegeta, Bardock believes that Frieza is up to something when they receive an order for all Saiyans to return home.

Created by Toei Animation based on series protagonist Goku 's visual design by franchise creator Akira Toriyama , he first appears in the animated television special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock — The Father of Goku as its morally ambiguous protagonist. Bardock has few overall manga and anime appearances within the series, though he plays a pivotal part as Goku's biological father in setting up the backstory of his son, originally known by the name Kakarot, as one of the last survivors of the Saiyan genocide by the intergalactic tyrant Frieza. Bardock has been well received by commentators and viewers as a tragic figure. Toriyama himself was moved by the character's story, which led to his decision to incorporate the character into the series' canon continuity. Bardock's popularity has led to the character appearing in a variety of franchise media, including several video games as well as a starring role in the spin-off manga Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock and its subsequent animated adaptation. A reworked version of the character developed by Toriyama appeared as the protagonist in the manga chapter Dragon Ball Minus: The Departure of the Fated Child. Bardock is a mercenary who is first introduced in Bardock —The Father of Goku as the leader of a platoon of Saiyan warriors.

The latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super has reignited interest in Goku's long-deceased father, Bardock. He was even trending on Twitter after the revelation of a connection between himself and Granolah, where the latter learns that Bardock once saved his life. It's been quite a while since Goku's father was the topic of Dragon Ball conversation, so here's a little refresher on who Bardock is and what happened to him. Bardock was a low-ranking Saiyan who led a small group of mercenaries and was married to a fellow Saiyan named Gine, who was also a member of the group at one point. This group would travel from planet to planet to destroy their defenses in preparation to be sold by Frieza. Bardock was cocky, but cared about his comrades and would save them during battle, making him popular with the lower-ranking fighters.

Gokus dad

Goku was named Kakarot at birth by his father Bardock. In the manga, Kakarot was born on Planet Vegeta three years before its destruction , while in the anime he was born shortly before the destruction of the planet. When Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, Kakarot survived as he was being sent to Earth on a routine infiltration mission to destroy all life on the planet in order to sell it.

Bardock wears a green lens scouter similar to his eldest son Raditz, though his model is older early model scouter than the one used by his son. Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned Hashire Melos! Bardock remarks that the medicine used to heal him is similar to the fluid in Medical Machines and Ipana says that the name of the planet is Planet Plant , the old name of Planet Vegeta, so Bardock starts to wonder if he is in the past. Interestingly, Bardock and Gine are not shown interacting after both join Tekka's Team, though Tekka's Team occasionally encounter them together on the same team as enemy NPCs due to the nature of the time-space rift, multiple counterparts can co-exist and even fight one another. Bardock manages to defeat Mira but mysteriously disappears from the Time Rift, leaving the defeated Mira beaten, yet alive.

It was broadcast on Fuji Television on October 17, , in-between episodes 63 and Serving as a prequel to the entire series, the special takes place twelve years before the events of Dragon Ball. The special inspired a sequel manga called Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock , which would be published in and adapted into a short film later that year.
