It's free of many toxic chemicals people don't want in their cookware, and they put out great late-night infomercial ads where they abuse the pan with hammers and electric beaters--and still, the eggs slide right out without use of oil or butter. When Gotham Steel cookware started showing up at Walmart and a few local grocery stores, we decided it was time to bring their products into our Test Kitchen. We did this as part of our broader search to find the best nonstick cookware. The base of the pan is constructed from solid aluminum and can be used on all cooking surfaces except for induction. Gotham Steel claims that their line of cookware is durable enough to be used with metal utensils, and to be so incredibly nonstick that the use of oil or butter is not needed when cooking. The Gotham Steel pan looks and feels like a high-quality pan, but is quite inexpensive. Inside a dishwasher is a pretty rough environment. Pots and pans are exposed to fluctuating temperatures, harsh detergents, and collisions with the other items being washed.
