So, guess corralejo, when I was approached by the Spanish Tourist Office to write a blog post on the hidden gems of Fuerteventura I was pretty excited! One of the most important things about Fuerteventura is just how good the food is!

I often hear people disregard the Canary Islands as a holiday destination for hiking or enjoying the beauty and calmness of untouched nature. However, most of the islands have so much more to offer, beyond hotel blocks and cheap fast food. Fuerteventura is located in the Atlantic Ocean. Mostly due to its mild and steady climate, Fuerteventura is also referred to as the island of eternal spring. From beautiful beaches to breathtaking views from various craters and hilltops. Most people know Fuerteventura either as a hot spot for surfing or as a relatively cheap all-inklusive-hotel-package destination. Which, I guess, are the two things that most people come for.

First of all I checked on the current regulations for flying these things in Spain. Link: Flying drones in Spain. The next thing that I checked was a map of NFZs on the island itself. As you would expect, there is a large one around the international airport, then a couple of smaller ones dotted around the island, which I believe are related to military installations. Link: NFZs on Fuerteventura. I left one in the Mavic, which went in the checked in baggage together with all of the accessories. The other two were in a Lipo bag, which I had in my hand baggage. I saw several Mavics in use whilst there — most being flown sensibly, some not. No sympathy - it could just as easily have been a young child that he crashed into. Working, then intermittent failures, then total failure over the course of a few days. Thanks from here as well northernlights53 as will be planning on taking my Air to Mallorca this year. Be careful on Lanzarote, they are very itchy about drones, and as it is a small island with shit loads of NFZs and a National Park Timanfaya def a no go area! The only place you will be able to fly is right down the bottom SW of the island Playa Blanca. I did not even bother when i went!!

And I can totally see why. Standing up there looking out over the vastness of the island guess corralejo all that empty space in front of you is as impressive as it is humbling.

They say was the Year of the Vegan. They know these things. I went vegan in January and was soon pontificating about my amazing new life to anyone who'd listen and many who wouldn't. Come December, our first holiday as vegans was upon us. Spain is not famed for veganism and we were expecting a week of nibbling avocados in our hotel room no bad thing. But, lo! Corralejo, the vibrant town in which we stayed, has not one, not two, but THREE vegan restaurants to delight thy tastebuds!

Corralejo- the bustling, charming, free-spirited town in the north of Fuerteventura is the epicenter of sunlight, good vibes, and lots of places to eat. Known for its natural park and the golden sand dunes, this town has been attracting a lot of digital nomads, solo travelers, and young families who are traveling to the island to take a break for months of stay or simply strolling by for a week of surf. The changing dynamics of global travelers have changed the local gastronomy scene. Corralejo is probably the most popular resort in Fuerteventura and it's situated in the very north of the island, being a part of the municipality of La Oliva. The resort is 30 to 40 minutes away by car from the airport, and we recommend getting either a taxi, a private transfer or a rental car, as there's no direct bus line between the airport and the resort. If you want to get from the airport to Corralejo by bus, you need to first take the no. This is a good and cheap option, especially for those who travel light, with no big suitcases, so it's easy for them to make the transfer from one bus to the other. Corralejo's main attractions are its great beaches, good food, active nightlife and also the great variety of things to do with the kids if you're planning a family holiday to Fuerteventura.

Once you reach the top, the view will definitely take your breath away. This section is a bit more tricky as the tourism influence in Fuerteventura has really increased in recent years. As I peered into the display of salads and cakes with eyes like Roger Rabbit when he sees Jessica, the owner asked if I was vegan. From beautiful beaches to breathtaking views from various craters and hilltops. I was proven wrong, though. With options this magnificent, we were two very happy campers. Thank you for reading and I hope I hope that my guide to the hidden gems in Fuerteventura has been useful! Did you know that the windsurfing world championships are held in Fuerteventura? The track leads you once around the mouth of the crater so you can admire the view from all angles.
