The park is noted for its number of phallic statues. The collection created by Korean artists displays various forms of "hanging arrangements to three-meter tall trunks of wood", for joy, spirituality and sexuality. A small Folk Museum titled "Village Folk Museum" has exhibits of art objects on the "sex iconography" over ages in different cultures, shamanic rituals and also the history of the Korean fishing community. A tragic legend known as the "Legend of Auebawi and Haesindang" [3] shrouds the statues of the park. According to the legend, a woman was once left by her man on a rock in the sea while he worked. The man was later unable to retrieve her because of a storm, and the woman drowned.

There are more than 50 phallic sculptures, some taking the form of park benches or drums, attracting a large crowd of both young and old, including kids. It's a cheeky, eye-opening 20 to 30 minute walk if you don't stop, but you will stop. If you head downhill, you can detour towards the end to some rocky coves. A fisherman discovered that she could be appeased if he answered the call of nature while facing the ocean, so the village put up phalluses to placate her. A small shrine to this spirit stands at the seaward tip of the park, and binoculars look out to the statue commemorating where she drowned. The Haesindang Park can be visited in half a day or a whole day depending on how much time you have to spend. We had only a little bit of time and we were able to see everything in about half a day. We left early in the morning and took the bus from Samcheok. The buses start to leave Samcheok around am and then about every hour after another one leaves. We took the bus around am and arrived at the park around 9 am. When you arrive at the park, you will need to purchase a ticket for about 3, won. This ticket will allow you to enter the park and the Samcheok Fishing Village Folk Museum, which is located inside the park. The park itself is very nice and clean with beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. The main attraction are penis statues in the park.
