One point of note is the last 20 minutes of the 3rd DVD has common injuries and healing techniques for them; that part is very well done and datesia rare to see. Basically even when good techniques they are done in a way that will only work with a cooperative partner in the dojang. Known as the Hapkido books Bible, outstanding history section, bigger pictures than in Tedeschi's book, slightly less hapkido books.

Marc Tedeschi is an internationally respected designer, photographer, educator, and martial arts master. He has studied Eastern philosophy, healing arts, and combatives for more than 40 years, training extensively in Hapkido, Taekwondo, Jujutsu, Judo, and Karate. A prolific writer, Mr. Tedeschi's landmark publications rank with the finest ever produced on the healing and martial arts. Tedeschi was a 7th degree black belt in Hapkido before founding his own style. He currently devotes most of his time to writing, teaching, and training, and is working on a broad range of projects related to Asian culture. Although these days many people like to learn by watching videos which is also completely fine , reading books and studying the material is also massively beneficial. By doing this, you can progress much faster compared to merely training on your own. By reading, this means you can learn whilst on the go. Especially useful for those with a busy lifestyle, this method allows you to get the most out of your spare time when you cannot physically train. This book is ideal for Hapkido practitioners who are interested in learning knife defense. Published by the Global Hapkido Association, this not only teaches knife defense but also offense. However, this is specifically poised towards knives and small blinds. As far as practical self defense methods are concerned, this book is very handy in the modern environment.

The hand techniques shown are excellent Hapkido, GM Han and his instructors were and are very skilled, but the techniques are usually not explained well. The techniques are Hapkido. Pelligrini's Combat Hapkido series -Pelligrini does show that he has some skills with certain techniques, but it's nearly all at a surface level; he does not show understanding of the principles of why techniques work. These are taking sections out of his big Hapkido book with some expanded material to make smaller books at more affordable prices. Not always available through Amazon, but you can contact Dr. Tedeschi has also done an excellent book on Essential Anatomy: For Healing and Martial Arts and a very comprehensive book on Taekwondo that I would also highly recommend. Tedeschi's unique ability to blend his skills as a designer, writer, and martial artist has resulted in numerous books, widely acknowledged for their design excellence, outstanding imagery, and clarity of content. Clearly written and expertly photographed by the author of the landmark Hapkido: Traditions, Philosophy, Technique, this unique book is essential reading for anyone seeking a concise, honest, and accurate overview of Hapkido's history, philosophy, and techniques. The only things I could take issue with is that Dr. Kimm teaches.

More than 9, photographs introduce over 2, martial techniques, including strikes, kicks, blocks, avoiding movements, holds, joint locks, chokes, throws, falls, tumbling, ground fighting, and weapons. Numerous closeups show precise grips, leverage methods, pressure points, hitting surfaces, and direction of force. Because of similarities between Hapkido and many other martial arts, including Taekwondo, Jujutsu, Aikido, Judo, and Tai Chi Chuan, this book is a useful reference for practitioners of all martial arts styles, from novices to masters.

A- Panther Productions Fariborz Azakh series - leans toward the more flashy techniques, I really dislike the HKD forms tape, but all of them are clear, nice quality, and the cane tapes are especially good. He is the author of twelve works, including a unique series of general martial arts books that provide an in-depth look at the core concepts and techniques shared by a broad range of martial arts. Most of these tapes are about 40 minutes, with some promotional crap of pictures he's had taken with known martial arts luminaries taking up some of the time on the tape; yet they claim there's not enough space to show falls? Definitely not a grandmaster level of skill or teaching. I've provided links to Amazon for my recommendations when the items are available there. Too many repeats in slo-mo for my taste but solid traditional Hapkido. Very basic, slightly better than Bon Soo Han's. AHA Wolmershauser series - cheap quality tapes from the 80's.
