Helped me narrow down to this done over Audio Technica M50X, mainly because of the open back design and its more realistic sound. By the way, I do not own an amplifier. Can it be powered through an iPhone and Macbook Air. I'm going to use mostly these two devices. If not, which amplifier would you suggest that won't burn my packet :P Thanks :D. Though not everyone likes the comparatively small earcups. The HD might, especially because of its problematic impedance response. I guess, you have to try it to know. My Note 3 and Nexus 5 are not able to drive the HD to any decent level. However my Macbook Pro does a nice job so your Macbook air would do just fine. I havent tried the cans with any iphone though.
Open-back vs closed-back-- The common difference is that open-back headphones image the sound around you; whereas with closed-backs, the music is blasting from inside your head.
Sennheiser has many headphones on the market suitable for almost any purpose and catering to every price range. The HD , however, is one headphone that has recently come down in price and now offers some excellent value for money. The build is a combination of high-grade plastic and metal and integrates an incredibly comfortable set of velour ear pads and a large faux leather head pad. Both of these features, combined with the open back design allowing air to flow and the circum-aural around the ear fit, means that you will be able to enjoy your sweet beats from these headphones for hours on end. The sound produced by the Sennheiser HD is laid back, smooth and rich. The sound is open, transparent, and clear, somewhat reminiscent of the extreme budget-friendly sound of the Superlux HD Evo we review last year but nowhere near the levels found on some other really high-end stuff like the outstanding Final Audio Design Pandora. Mids are beautifully presented with a sense of intimacy and zero upper mid sibilance, and the lows are rich with power and weight.

The Sennheiser HD range is home to some legendary headphones — the HD and HD are two of the most praised sets in the world, and now they have a new-born brother. Each ear pad is lined with soft, very comfortable velour, as is the headband. The leather and wood trimmings of the HD are absent, but the two are comparable in terms of comfort. You can wear these headphones all day long without even the slightest hint of discomfort.

The latter will extend lifetime of this headphone far beyond of what people are nowadays used to. Cons : None for me. They are made in China, but Sennheiser still has not compromised any quality or cut any corners with the design. I can listen to straight music for hours and never have discomfort. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Though Sennheiser says the sensitive 50 ohm HD is compatible with most portable audio sources, frankly driving it from mp3 players and laptop audio output sources is not a great idea. About Sennheiser For more than 60 years the name Sennheiser has stood for the highest quality products and customized solutions across all areas of sound recording, transmission and reproduction. I know it's not a major factor, but the box the s come in is actually quite nice, very sleek and modern but still classy. If booming bass is what you're looking for, you may want to steer clear of the s. Eventually, I lost the 's, as I tend to do, but they were my daily drivers for something like 5 years.

I found these headphones the most enjoyable whilst listen to classical style music, such as works from Hans Zimmer's, and soft house music. Male vocals that are more light will show better, and vocals in general shine on both at nearly the same frequency. A carrying bag There is not much else to say. That's about all I can say about that. They are great for all types of music regae, clasical heavy metal and specially for movie soundtracks. Acceptable comfort. They have been classified by many people here as bass-light, and I'm not sure exactly where that comes from, because to me they seem very heavy on the mid-bass, while not offering great extension. They never feel harsh or obtrusive, taking a more relaxed tone that is sweet and lilting. WhiskeyJacks I wanted to ask about the de-foamed mod that you can do with this headphone. Sennheiser HD, proprietary 2. Thanks for reading!
