Heartstopper is a British coming-of-age romantic comedy - drama television series on Netflix , written and created by Alice Oseman and based on her webcomic and graphic novel of the same name. The series primarily tells the story of Charlie Spring Joe Locke , a gay schoolboy who falls in love with classmate Nick Nelson Kit Connor , whom he sits next to in his new form. The television rights for the series were purchased by See-Saw Films in and Netflix acquired distribution rights in Euros Lyn was enlisted as the director. Filming took place from April to June that year, with teasers released throughout the timeframe.

Adapted from Alice Oseman's popular webcomics, Heartstopper is a new teen drama on Netflix. The series follows Charlie Spring, his friends, and his potential love interest Nick Nelson as they navigate high school, relationships, and sexuality. The show has quickly become popular with both comic fans and those who are new to the story, being recognized for its positive, genuine representations of the experiences of young LGBTQIA people. While Charlie and his peers face adversaries and difficult situations, they can rely on those who are kind, compassionate, and genuinely likable people and characters. While new character Imogen Heaney may come on a little strong, both with her outspoken allyship of Tara and Darcy's relationship and with expressing her feelings for Nick, it is clear she means well. Imogen spends a lot of Heartstopper chasing after Nick, who is struggling with his feelings for Charlie and doesn't want to hurt Imogen.
