Kurapika is one of the main characters in Yoshiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter. He is one of Gon's best friends and plays a significant role in some of the most important arcs in the series , such as the York New City arc and, later, the Succession Contest arc as well. Kurapika is a fan favorite character and, as such, there are quite a few things that every fan of his should know about him. Kurapika made his debut quite early in the series. Being one of the main characters, it was expected of him to show up early and he did just that in the manga, making an appearance in the second chapter.

It is so complicated that viewers often find it difficult not only to keep up with the abilities of tons of different characters , but also to understand what actually the abilities of certain characters are. One of the most fascinating characters with equally fascinating powers is a man named Kurapika. He is a gentle and quiet man who is driven by a thirst for revenge against a group of thieves called Phantom Troupe who massacred his entire clan. Kurapika's nen abilities and his main weapons are a set of chains on his right hands. And this is a brief explanation of his powers. Before we talk about Kurapika's ability, let's have a quick crash course on Nen first. Every living being has innate energy called Aura. Nen is the ability to harness and control that aura. Every individual was born with only one type of aura, but they can learn to use other types as well. Kurapika is a Conjuror.

He is voiced by Yuki Kaida in the Japanese version of the anime and Cheryl McMaster in the English version while in the anime, he is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro in the Japanese version and Erika Harlacher in the English version. Hunter x Hunter 's Kurapika entered the pilot episode as a stoic, serious, and intense individual. He made it clear that is very important that he pass the Hunter's Exam and that he represents the last of his beloved Kurta clan. With his bewitching scarlet eyes, Kurapika definitely stands out more than his peers. These eyes are a hallmark of the whole Kurta clan. It is for this precious attribute that Kurapika's small clan was devastatingly massacred. So what exactly happened to them? Kurapika belongs to the Kurta clan, a small community of people only. They were secluded from the rest of the world in a beautiful forest, which was the extent of Kurapika's knowledge of the world. One day, Kurapika and his friend Pairo rescued a girl named Sheila in the forest, and as a token of gratitude, she gave them a book that told the dangerous tales of a Hunter in the outside world. Pairo and Kurapika were determined to read the book so they translated every word to read the stories inside.

Kurapika is the last living member of the Kurta clan, a clan of people who was hunted down and murdered by a group of thieves called the Phantom Troupe so they could steal the clan's Scarlet Eyes, which are considered treasures due to their beauty. However, Kurapika managed to escape, and he swore that he would take revenge on the Phantom Troupe. After he got older, Kurapika took the Hunter Exam, hoping to become a Hunter so he could track down the members of the Troupe. After separating from his friends, Kurapika learned the art of Nen and became a bodyguard for the Nostrade mafia family. During this time, he managed to kill Uvogin , one of the Phantom Troupe's strongest members, and remove the Nen abilities of Chrollo Lucilfer , the Troupe's leader, and decided to track down his clan's eyes and take them all back from the people who managed to get them.
