Despite the player's legendary status as Dragonborn, however, the game does a very poor job at making them feel as such during gameplay.

In reality, shouts seem to lack a lot of depth in more complex gameplay. Thankfully modders from all over the world have created some amazing modifications to Skyrim which make shouts much more useful and give new reasons to explore them in battle. The Ultimate Player start unlocks them all so long as you complete Dragon Rising absorbing the dragon's soul immediatley makes all shouts usuable thats the only one I've noticed.
