Sign In. Inside Out I Hide Spoilers. I just knew this was gonna be amazing. Such a great idea for an animated movie, even by Pixar's standards. It's truly a perfectly executed vision that did not disappoint on almost all levels. There's a lot of fun to be had with this, it's one of the funnier and more thought provoking Pixar movies. The scene where Bing Bong disappears is also extremely sad. I could also tell that this is one of Pixar's more mature films, about the struggles of growing up. It explored Nostalgia for most of the movie without even using the word. When sadness touched a core memory and turned it blue, it was a symbol for Riley feeling nostalgic for her best memories. In my book, this is yet another Pixar classic. Was this review helpful? Sign in to vote.

The Pixar movie Inside Out is an emotionally gripping story about a young girl's big move, and the large cast and characters are what makes it so moving and special. Following year-old Riley Kaitlyn Dias after she relocates to San Francisco from Minnesota, the film provides insight into her mind as the viewers see her try to cope with homesickness and her struggles to fit into her new environment. The movie also emphasizes how it is natural to feel negative emotions and why it is important to talk about these troubling thoughts and struggles. While many Pixar movies feature objects that have feelings , Inside Out stands out because some of the main characters are actually emotions themselves, and they each play a significant role in Riley's growth and development. These memorable characters contribute to Inside Out 's humorous yet serious tone and are one reason why the movie won Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. Theory Explained. Kaitlyn Dias voices the main character Riley, a relatable child character afraid of living in a new city and learning a tough but necessary lesson about the nature of change. This is the actor's most notable role as she infuses her character with charm and a fun, light-hearted approach to life.

And if it's as successful as I suspect it will be, it could shake American studio animation out of the doldrums it's been mired in for years. It avoids a lot of the cliched visuals and storytelling beats that make even the best Pixar movies, and a lot of movies by Pixar's competitors, feel too familiar. The best parts of it feel truly new, even as they channel previous animated classics including the works of Hayao Miyazaki and explore situations and feelings that everyone has experienced to some degree. The bulk of the film is set inside the brain of young Riley Kaitlyn Dias , who's depressed about her mom and dad's decision to move them from Minnesota to San Francisco, separating her from her friends. Riley's emotions are determined by the interplay of five overtly "cartoonish" characters: Joy Amy Poehler , a slender sprite-type who looks a little bit like Tinkerbell without the wings; Sadness Phyllis Smith , who's soft and blue and recessive; Fear Bill Hader , a scrawny, purple, bug-eyed character with question-mark posture; Disgust Mindy Kaling , who's a rich green, and has a bit of a " Mean Girls " vibe; and Anger Lewis Black , a flat-topped fireplug with devilish red skin and a middle-manager's nondescript slacks, fat tie and short-sleeved shirt. There's a master control room with a board that the five major emotions jostle against each other to control.

A superb job was done with the script here too, the comedy is clever and witty without ever being forced and balances subtly with the drama, the drama is some of the most truly poignant of any Pixar film and it doesn't ever feel manipulative or overdone and it's very smartly insightful. Now I do not want to go with deeper details about the characters since I think now most know how these characters was presented, but if I'd like to talk about something a little different I would love to ask again to those who didn't like the film about the "perfect" girl Riley. Well, not everybody. Top Gap. I believe the following three conceptual problems are what do the film in. Love them or hate them, Disney movies have always had one thing in common: they tried to transport you into a magical world populated with interesting, colorful characters. This is true for all human "characters" and their dominate emotions. After some ho-hum years and too many sequels, Pixar is back and better than ever with Inside Out, a boldly unique animated film that renews our faith in what a giant studio can do with an original concept. Trivia According to the director Pete Docter , each emotion is based on a shape: Joy is based on a star, Sadness is a teardrop, Anger is a fire brick, Fear is a raw nerve, and Disgust is broccoli. A fight between Joy and Sadness causes them to be sent to long term memory, leaving the other emotions to run Riley. Lewis Black Anger voice. This film is beyond emotionally engaging, this film gives you a mirror on which to reflect your life and think about it, but no wait it doesn't stop there, it also gives you the opportunity to laugh about it, that no matter what is going on there is also space for a laugh and for lightness. Details Edit. Andrew Stanton Photos Trailer The last point might seem like I am taking the film too literally. Additional Voices voice Bret 'Brook' Parker
