The Land of the Sea Arc is the eighth filler arc in the original Naruto anime and the seventh of the Post-Sasuke Retrieval filler arcs. Anko is forced to confront the demons of her past when she is sent to the Land of the Sea along with a squad of genin Naruto, Shino, and Ino to investigate the "Demon of the Ocean" sightings. Naruto, in the meantime, encounters and becomes attached to a young lady who may have connections to the sightings. On a stormy night in Konohagakure, Anko Mitarashi has a nightmare about her time under Orochimaru and how she received her Cursed Seal. The next day, Naruto laments that he hasn't had an exciting mission for a while before spotting Sakura and Ino walking from the Yamanaka Flower Shop. He proceeds to make fun of the latter for missing out on training due to a cold which also prevented her from going off with the rest of Team 10 on a mission, much to her dismay. Just then, Shino appears and tells Naruto and Ino that the three of them are being summoned for a new mission. Trade ships in the nearby Land of the Sea are being assaulted by a "kaima" or "demon of the ocean" , which threatens to disrupt a military treaty it has with the Land of Water. Their mission is to safeguard the ship containing the tribute while simultaneously eliminating the alleged creature.

By Charles White. The beginning of this episode starts us off with the team trying to escape out of the cave that had been blown up in the previous episode. The team gets out of the cave safely. The only thing interesting about the beginning of this episode was the fact that Anko's summoning Jutsu was a snake, which is just another reminder of how she trained under Orochimaru. I would imagine that Anko learned more then just the summoning jutsu from Orochimaru, so it's kind of sad that her skills weren't shown more in this episode. Once the team gets out of the cave, they have to make it to where the island's fleet is about to leave, having been tricked by Amachi, the fleet is setting off with no knowledge that they're running into a trap. When the ship comes out into open water they're attacked by Amachi, Yaroi, and Isaribi. Yaroi's illusion jutsu was an interesting jutsu. The animation for the attack didn't match up well with the episode, but it probably looked the way it did to let us know that it wasn't real fire. The team arrives as they're looting the boat and the fight pursues which has Naruto facing off against Isaribi, Anko against Amachi, and Shino against Yaroi.

Because of this, Isaribi is very cynical of anyone who tries to be friendly with her she had much distrust for Naruto Uzumaki when they first met. I do admit that some filler episodes were good but the most of them are crap because the anime team recycles the same plot and jutsus changing only the background.
