As we move through our time together in yoga practice, we walk gradually into jumping to and fro in a specific sequence of asanas. We go gradually so that if it is appropriate for your age and condition you can proceed confidently with what is being asked. And if there is an injury or weakness, or age related circumstance, no problem, you proceed taking care of these conditions wisely. What is being addressed here, is not how much we can do or what is it we can't do, or no longer can do, but can the mind follow along and stay organized for one hour of work? Can the senses and the mind remain interested and calm in the midst of learning new things?

You develop at your own pace and in a progressive way. Our instructors are well trained and able to modify and adjust poses to make yoga accessible to all students. No matter what your skill level, we provide a pleasant, friendly atmosphere in which one can develop a meaningful practice of yoga. Yoga can provide each of us with the skills to improve health, cultivate serenity, and expand awareness. My desire is to make yoga accessible to everyone. Iyengar Yoga Birmingham offers a friendly, dynamic and welcoming environment that provides excellent tuition in Iyengar Yoga for those who are new to yoga, existing students and teachers. Yoga for Claire is beyond the physical asana practice and embraces mental calm and wellbeing. Her classes will help you to find your inner sense of peace as well as strength and flexibility. Claire is one of a handful of Level 3 formerly called Junior Intermediate 3 Iyengar yoga teachers in Northern Ireland and has developed Maitri Studio as a base for Iyengar yoga in Belfast. Claire's training and practice has spanned many years and continues! Many people will know that Iyengar yoga training is rigorous and thorough, covering all aspects of traditional yoga. In particular the Iyengar method is known to be helpful for all, whether already active and fit, or suffering from aches, injuries or various health conditions.
