It is believed to have evolved in Western Asia. Haplogroup J-M is believed to have split from the haplogroup I-M roughly 43, years ago in Western Asia, [1] as both lineages are haplogroup IJ subclades. J-M Transcaucasian origin is defined by the M genetic marker, or the equivalent 12f2. The main current subgroups J-M Armenia highlands origin and J-M Zagros mountains originwhich now comprise between them almost j2 haplogroup of the haplogroup's descendant lineages, j2 haplogroup, are both j2 haplogroup to have arisen very early, at least 10, years ago.

Suprahaplogroup F is believed to have migrated from Africa approximately 50kya. Haplogroup J arose approximately 30kya see Figure 4 and has been defined by a number of unique Y-chromosome polymorphisms; the 12f2a deletion and the M and P SNPs. Societies, dynasties and empires in this broad region include the Sumerian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Phoenician and Persian. Haplogroup J is also particularly abundant in Anatolia present day Turkey and the Y-chromosome diversity observed here suggests that this area is a possible source of this clade. This spread contributes significantly to populations in European and African countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

The global distribution of J2-M sub-haplogroups has been associated with Neolithic demic diffusion. We investigated the Neolithic contribution of demic dispersal from West to Indian paternal lineages, which majorly consists of haplogroups of Late Pleistocene ancestry. To accomplish this, we have analysed Y-chromosomes from different ethnic populations, of which belonged to J2-M Comparison of our data with worldwide data, including Y-STRs of individuals and haplogroup frequencies of individuals, suggested a complex scenario that cannot be explained by a single wave of agricultural expansion from Near East to South Asia. Contrary to the widely accepted elite dominance model, we found a substantial presence of J2a-M and J2b-M haplogroups in both caste and tribal populations of India. Unlike demic spread in Eurasia, our results advocate a unique, complex and ancient arrival of J2a-M and J2b-M haplogroups into Indian subcontinent. Population history of India has been under investigation to study the earliest settlement of anatomically modern humans Out of Africa and later to study the demographic episodes of Eurasia 1 , 2 , 3.

J2b has a quite different distribution from J2a. Polarity and temporality of high-resolution y-chromosome distributions in India identify j2 haplogroup indigenousand exogenous expansions and reveal minor genetic influence of Central Asian pastoralists.

Author: Maciamo Hay. Last update April famous people. Haplogroup J2 is thought to have appeared somewhere in the Middle East towards the end of the last glaciation, between 15, and 22, years ago. This confirms that haplogroup J2 was already found around the Caucasus and the southern Caspian region during the Mesolithic period. The first appearance of J2 during the Neolithic came in the form of a 10, year-old J2b sample from Tepe Abdul Hosein in north-western Iran in what was then the Pre-Pottery Neolithic Broushaki et al.

On the other hand, it would seem to be that different episodes of populace movement had impacted southeast Europe, as well as the role of the Balkans as a long-standing corridor to Europe from the Near East is shown by the phylogenetic unification of Hgs I and J by the basal M mutation. Such a geographic hall [ clarification needed ] is prone to have encountered extra consequent gene streams, including the horticultural settlers. Haplogroup J has also been found among two ancient Egyptian mummies excavated at the Abusir el-Meleq archaeological site in Middle Egypt, which date from a period between the late New Kingdom and the Roman era. Haplogroup J-M is found in its greatest concentration in the Arabian peninsula. It also has a moderate occurrence in Southern Europe , especially in central and southern Italy, Malta, Greece and Albania.

Apart from geographical separation, linguistic affiliation seems to be responsible to shape J2-M pool in India. American Journal of Human Genetics. The most likely hypothesis is that J2b2a1 L penetrated into the Pontic Steppe region during the Neolithic or Chalcolithic period, by crossing the Caucasus from western Iran, then migrated to the Volga-Ural region, where it was absorbed by the R1a-Z93 tribes in the Early Bronze Age. The vast majority of J2b lineages belong to J2b2 and its subclades. J2 is distinguished from J1 by a lower frequency in Arab populations and the near absence in Africa. Access date: 1 February A later study in located the CMH markers among the Lemba tribe in far-way South Africa, lending some confirmation to their oral history of a Jewish connection to their people.
