This is my first repair log on an arcade board, i hope that my text will not be too long and useful to anyone having problems with their own PCB of the same game. After pluging the board on my jamma system, i noticed that the board has at least 4 problems to fix. The first is that i get japanese characters on screen. After reading each eproms and socketed maskroms, i see that FU is from the wrong set. The solution was easy peasy : i bought a brand new on ebay, and burn the right content from the world set. Nintendo was also a member of the organization until its departure on February 28, JAMMA is the namesake of a widely used wiring standard [3] for arcade games. As the majority of arcade games were designed in Japan at this time, JAMMA became the de facto standard internationally. When an old game became unprofitable, many arcade operators would rewire the cabinet and update the artwork in order to put different games in the cabinets. Reusing old cabinets made a lot of sense, and it was realized that the cabinets were a different market from the games themselves. The JAMMA standard allowed plug-and-play cabinets to be created reducing the cost to arcade operators where an unprofitable game could be replaced with another game by a simple swap of the game's PCB.
I have an arcade machine in a cabinet that doesn't work. I got another board, but the pins didn't match - I figured out I needed to replace the wires. Here's how I muddled through to installing the wires to the proper places. Pretty neat! What is less neat is many used cabinets have been a little abused by their previous owners. Damage from players and hasty fixes may equal some pretty insane problems with the hardware. In order to use the cabinet for JAMMA games, one must replace the connector, or even rewire the entire cabinet, being careful to match each wire to the proper place on the connector. It was totally unlabeled - the pen markings are my attempt to make some sense out of the board. The "CSI: Arcade Operator" portion of our program: from the burn marks on the GROUND connector, we can infer that the traces and board were not rated for the amount of current for the entire machine running through a single trace oopsie!

It might look confusing with all the wires but once you split them into logical bundles it's as simple and pushing on the connectors. Making sure you line the 12v GND to the connect pins so the board powers correctly. Don't worry we will go over this in more detail later on. Once MAME is downloaded and configured with some games ROMs you will want to connect it to an arcade joystick and buttons, to do this you wil need to get an interface device to connect all the parts up.
