I'm a bit disappointed I went to JL today to check my bra. I usually go to an independent store owned by a Rigby and Peller trained fitter, and when I went was measured as 35 inches round the band. She told me either a 34f or 36e depending on the bra and since then I have worn a 34f and find them very comfortable. I've lost a bit of weight and measuring myself round the band I am now 34 so I thought I ought to check the cup size The lady in JL measured me as 36???? Did I just get a newbie?? Or is my tape measure broken.

That guide is years old and goes back to the day when there was no elasticity in bras. To be honest at a size 8 you'd be best looking at an even smaller back size. DD1 is an 8 and fits a 28DD best. Go to your nearest Bravissimo, it will be a life changing experience for you I promise. Whereabouts in the country are you, i'll tell you where your nearest one is. They fit by eye, never let any bra fitter near you with a tape measure!!!
