This Kenmore dishwasher is about three years old and has been far more problematic than the last Kenmore dishwasher I owned, both made by Fridgidaire. Anyway, already replaced were the sump, diverter motor, and circulation pump. Now, the dishwasher doesn't drain fully at the end of a wash cycle. This had been happening infrequently one in every 20 washes but seems to have increased in frequency. If I start a rinse cycle, the first thing the dishwasher does is drain all the remaining water, leading me to believe that there is not a blockage and, possibly, not an issue with the drain pump. Running just a rinse seems to complete just fine, draining all the water. MrApplianceMatt 1 post. MaxRepair 1 post. October 3, I would check the drain hose for any kind of restriction. It may not be visible through the hose. According to the parts breakdown, this model is built by Whirlpool, or at least uses Whirlpool parts. Some models of Kenmore Dishwashers utilize a check valve as part of the drain pump. Within the check valve, there is the piston and nut assembly. If your Kenmore Dishwasher is not draining water properly, the piston and nut assembly could be the source of the problem. All Kenmore Dishwashers will have a method to drain the water. Most models will have a single motor driven pump with two separate compartments, one for circulation and one for drain, each with its own impeller. Other types will have a separate drain pump, and some will utilize the main circulating pump in conjunction with a drain solenoid and diverter valve or flapper. On models that use a separate drain pump, you should check to see if there is any obstruction to the input and output of the pump and also verify that there is power getting to the pump motor during the drain portion of the cycle. Some Kenmore Dishwasher models will use a check valve in the drain outlet. The check valve is used to allow water to flow in one direction but will prevent the dirty water from re-entering the Kenmore Dishwasher.
