There is no variation in valve timing of the exhaust cam because the exhaust camshaft is driven by the timing belt. The timing of the intake cam is varied by the relative operation the CVVT vane to the housing, kia dtc p0011. The deviation of the camshaft position from the target point is evaluated during stable driving condition.

After consulting "The Google", it seems it could be either the solenoid has gone bad, the crank position sensor is faulty, or that the timing chain could be stretched and is now lose. I checked the solenoid with my multimeter, it came back as 8. Not sure if being 1 Ohm overspec is enough to cause problems. I'd like to check the crank position sensor next if possible, but I'm not sure if I can test it with just a multimeter. Also seems to be a bit of a pain to get access to, so any tips there would be appreciated. Checking the chain seems to be as straightforward as taking the cam cover off the engine and visually inspecting the chain, but I would like to save that option for last if I can. Its a model Forte5, with the 2.
Check Engine Light On? I checked the solenoid with my multimeter, it came back as 8. Still glad to hear that shop got the problem nailed down.

Here it is separated into its separate pieces, with a quick explanation of each. Vehicles with VVT can change camshaft position timing depending on whether you need power or economy. VVT allows the engine to act as though it has different camshaft profiles at different RPMs; this is great for both power and fuel economy. Sometimes, the system will get stuck in an over-advanced position. Valve timing control methods can be quite different for every engine, even from the same manufacturer, but the basics are the same.

Camshaft actuators or phasers change how long the intake and exhaust valves stay open. Some simpler systems change the cam timing, while others change cam profiles entirely. Bank one is the side of the engine with the first cylinder. When the cam timing is off, it can cause some issues with the motor.

Yes, after resetting codes the P popped right back on rough idle. Skip carousel. Culture Documents. What is Scribd? Present fault : DTC is occurring at present time. My mother went and got its oil changed yesterday after I told her about the problem, and after the oil change the CEL light went out on its own, so likely was just an oil issue. Powered by Kunena Forum. Personal Growth Documents. The crank no start and stalling at idle suggest a genuine base timing issue, possibly due to a stuck VVT solenoid or actuator the gear on the camshaft. Recommended Communities.

With regards to doing the oil change myself, last time I tried doing it it took me about 4 hours to get the oil filter off the engine using 4 different filter wrenches and eventually sticking a screwdriver through the filter. Also seems to be a bit of a pain to get access to, so any tips there would be appreciated. NO - Go to "Component Inspection" procedure. The actuator is harder to test for with out engine disassembly, but you can pretty easily test for a stuck solenoid. ForteGT2 Replies. Top Contributors this Month View All. You know the solenoid moves, so all that's left is the actuator or base timing. Engine oil filter The only other thing I could suggest would be to do that un-sticking procedure I described. Q - Listen for an audible click. Is this content inappropriate?
