Lehigh Valley Health Network cut the ribbon on the first of its new neighborhood hospitals Friday morning. Lehigh Valley Hospital—Macungie is the first new acute care hospital built in Lehigh County in more than 50 years. The one-story, 22,square-foot hospital at Route in Lower Macungie Township, on the border with Macungie, will open at 7 a. The hospital is the second half of a two-building campus at the site. The Health Center at Macungie, a three-story medical office building with multiple services and specialties, opened in December. LVH—Macungie will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It has 11 emergency department beds and 10 inpatient beds for overnight stays.
