Little horseshoe lake mn
Do you find TopoQuest useful? Feature Type:.
This extremely narrow, relatively shallow lake measures in at roughly acres in size and offers seven well above average BWCA campsites and well above average fishing opportunities for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. This lake would easily be on my top five list of lakes with the best overall campsites and fishing, which may explain why it consistently reminds me of a circus when I find myself camping overnight or passing through. Its narrow waterways make it almost impossible for direct contact with passing canoeists to be avoided. Along with people day tripping to take advantage of its fish filled waters that are well protected from the wind and its location on a popular route it can truly feel hectic during the summer months. Access is most common from entry point Lizz and Swamp Lakes via two short portages from Poplar Lake and one short portage from Caribou. Even with three portages separating you from the access point they are all very short and well used, meaning access is still relatively easy.

I know there were some access problems and other things going on in years past. DNR says it is. Nice fish in the lake. Would like to fish it more but the guy said he couldn't guarantee my truck would be okay to drive if he saw it again. Real nice feller. I used to fish the lake all the time, but now I cant get my boat and truck turned around with what he had done there. Should have gotten his name, sure the warden would want to hear about it? Sounds like a threat too me? Have you ever tried big Horseshoe across the street? The Landing is a lot better over there, very few crabby guys. I tried big horse shoe last winter with not much success. It seemes that these smaller lakes get over looked by a lot of fishermen when Goose,Fish, west and east Rush are just up the road.
In addition, this is essentially at a dead end part of the lake meaning you will more likely see moose than any canoeists.

One of the county inspectors found a Zebra Mussel on a weed that was attached to a boat leaving the Horseshoe landing. The DNR inspected our lake and he found a Zebra Mussel on the east basin attached to a clam, they did not find any near the landing , found another just on the west side of the channel in about 5 feet of water and also on the west side of the west basin attached to a golf ball. DNR said they looked to be years old! They also said they will be installing signs at the boat landing stating the lake has invasive species. They mentioned that it is difficult for Zebra Mussels to thrive in our lake because of the lack of substrate such as rocks.

The lack of grand views is made for by the private feeling. Posted March 2, I've sent a copy of this thread to the DNR fisheries supervisor responsible for that area. Rush City Police Department. Sounds like a real nice guy??
