I'm getting ready to swap some, and I want to see what they are like before I do. Swapping a stripped 45 ix banged up, 5" llama slide for crimson trace grips , that's a no Brainerd. But I want to better understand the value before trading or selling off something good, that just has a poor reputation, after all there is much more to a than the slide. I'm going to try building it up on a casting, either double or single stack, haven't decided. The lower part of these , especially the MAX, and others have a bad rep, the upper parts look good tho. I think the weak parts are in the lowers. Most of the lower parts seem interchangeable, except the MSH pin hole doesn't seem to line up, or actually I just realized I didn't disassemble it, it might not have the thing that goes at the bottom of the spring in it.. Also the slide stop pin is a few mm too long, diameter seemed right, I don't have the llama pins to check diameter on them. I do know the firing pin is different, held in by the rear sight, some have standard rear sights, some have oversized sight cutouts. Also the older llama direct copies have an undersized extractor, a normal one will fit , but first it needs to be turned down on a lathe, or otherwise reducing the diameter.

Buttt, I can tell you right now that I will never, ever get close to what I put into it. I'm gonna see what the dealer that sold it to me is going to do for me, but I figured I better start scoping out some parts. I got it from the estate of a U. The safety hole is in a strange place, seems like that holed group should be further forward, but I used the mag catch as root, and checked measurements on slide stop, so on paper everything is correct. The only thing I'm not too sure on is the magazine. Guess I'll keep looking, thanks, Shoo.
