After having found all four Aetherium Shards , Katria directs the Dragonborn to the Ruins of Bthalft where the legendary Aetherium Forge is rumoured to be. In the Ruins of Bthalft, visit the central, celestial-looking sculpture on a platform, and place the shards into it. A rumble occurs but nothing more. Katria suggests to retrieve the shards that have now been neatly placed in a gear-like object, the Aetherium Crest. More rumbling. Katria then warns the Dragonborn to quickly step back from the platform. Shorty thereafter a Dwemer elevator shaft shoots out of the ground, making way to the forge. Enter the elevator to the forge, and dive into the depths. Follow the path through the huge cave, until reaching a closed off gate. Here Katria suggests activating the two resonators above the gate, by shooting at them. Finally the Dragonborn enters the impressive chamber of the Aetherium Forge.
Thank you. It's a good idea to retrieve all the potions before opening the door. And now
The quest details the investigation of a lost ancient Dwemer secret and the search for four pieces of solid Aetherium. It can be started by locating and reading a copy of the book The Aetherium Wars. It can also be started by entering Arkngthamz and talking to Katria , skipping directly to the second part of the quest. In Arkngthamz, I met Katria, the ghost of an adventurer who perished there. She offered to join me in my fight to the summit, and I accepted her help. Upon arriving at Arkngthamz, the earth will quiver, followed by a disembodied voice that can be heard warning the Dragonborn to turn back.
Introduced into Skyrim with the Dawnguard DLC , Lost to the Ages is an extensive sidequest that sees the player delve into multiple Dwemer ruins to uncover the mysteries of Aetherium, as well as uncover the long-lost Aetherium Forge. Although the quest can be quite long, it is well worth the effort, especially if the player is interested in Dwemer artifacts and history. Lost to the Ages will not only take players inside completely new Dwemer ruins, but also have them traversing the entire map of Skyrim in search of the illusive Aetherium Shards that make up the main focus of the storyline alongside the ghost of an explorer on a similar quest, Katria. In order to trigger the quest, not unlike Boethiah's Calling and The Legend of Red Eagle , the player needs to obtain a book titled The Aetherium Wars, which goes into detail about the history of the four Dwarven city-states in Skyrim and their conflict over control of Aetherium. The book is fairly easy to find and is scattered throughout most of Skyrim, but the easiest place to find it is in Farengar's library in Whiterun. However, if the player already knows where the first phase of the quest is, they can also find it on Katria's body in Arkngthamz as well as her journal, just after they first interact with her in the old Dwemer ruin. While there is no level limit to this quest, it isn't recommended that players attempt this at lower levels, as there are several Falmer and Dwarven Centurions that need to be fought along the way. After entering, a ghostly voice will tell the player to turn back and leave, though if they continue ahead, the ghost of Katria will greet them and ask them what they are still doing there.
