When it comes to enemies of Superman , most of them wish to outright kill the Man of Steel. Such was the case with the violent Doomsday , who actually succeeded in doing so. One femme fatale, however, had very different plans for the Last Son of Krypton, all of which were tied to her hedonistic ways. Though she constantly sought Superman's hand in marriage, she would occasionally aid him and the rest of Earth as a member of the Justice League. This saw her going toe-to-toe with Doomsday, and her less-than-cautious demeanor can be blamed on Superman's own demise! This incarnation of the iconic superhero wasn't quite at its best, with the likes of Bloodwynd and the Ted Kord Blue Beetle making up its roster. As heavy hitters like Superman, Wonder Woman and even someone as strong as Aquaman nowhere to be found, this League didn't have much of a chance against a monster like Doomsday. The one exception was of course Superman's former foe Maxima, who had turned a new leaf and joined the group. Maxima's physical prowess is enhanced by her psionic abilities, putting her on par with Superman himself in some respects. This is why the Princess of Almerac saw Kal-El as a suitable marriage partner , hoping to bear his child and continue her society's pattern of selective breeding. Thus, it makes sense that she would be able to withstand Doomsday's onslaught, at least briefly.

At the end, she and Superman leave Earth forever to protect it from a potential reprisal from the Krenon Empire after the death of De'Cine.
