Certain traits that generals can get increase replenishment rates of any army they are connected to, and those are free. Also, some of the arts you can master increase the replenishment rate. Upgrading fortresses helps, as does upgrading the roads. If you have soem free slots in an upgraded city, you can build military encampments which seriously increase the replenishment rate. What I do is I choose a city relatively close to where I will be doing a lot of fighting, and do all of the things I justm entioned, essentially making that region a base for regrouping my armies post-battle. If you do these things then units that have lost decent numbers will be filled back up within one or two turns, while units nearly destroyed would take only a couple more.
