A Meteorite biome is a mini-biome formed on an undisclosed location a meteor lands on. This event always occurs off-screen, leaving a crater lined with Meteorite ore for players to find somewhere in the world. Players are alerted of a meteorite crash via a status message : " A meteorite has landed! Meteorite biomes spawn Meteor Heads , a unique enemy type, which fly toward the player and follow them as they move, passing through all blocks that they come across. The spawning of Meteor Heads cannot be prevented as long as the area is considered as a meteorite biome, even with several NPCs nearby. However, the Space Layer can override the meteorite biome Harpies will spawn instead. If the player is in a Meteorite biome but also near the Space border, both Harpies and Meteor Heads can spawn.

Meteorite is an uncommon type of ore mined from Meteorite crash sites. Crash sites are not generated upon world creation, but instead generate throughout the game based on certain conditions. It cannot be mined with the Tungsten Pickaxe's counterpart, the Silver Pickaxe , as it lacks the required pickaxe power. Crash sites can occur anywhere, accompanied by a message signifying the event. Meteorite is required to craft Meteorite Bars. Contact with Meteorite blocks causes the player to be inflicted with the Burning debuff , unless the player has the Obsidian Skull accessory or its upgrades equipped, or is using an Obsidian Skin Potion. Meteor Heads are flying enemies that only spawn in a Meteorite biome. They override all other enemy spawns in the biome, except when the Meteorite biome is within the Ocean.
