W hen the journalist Michael Lewis announced in May that he was writing a book on Sam Bankman-Fried after spending months with the FTX crypto mogul in the Bahamas, it was anticipated to be the definitive account of an era-defining financial collapse. Bankman-Fried is accused of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, among other counts. I was particularly interested to speak with Lewis, as I am working on my own book about Bankman-Fried and the epic rise and fall of the crypto world that unfolded over the pandemic.
