Motu m2 review
Both units are wrapped in cold hard metal and feel plenty weighty enough for this sort of interface. They have decent feet to prevent them from being pulled off the desk by the weight of your cables and the knobs have a good feel to them with grippy surfaces. What you are drawn to is the displays — they're rather nice. Installation requires a driver from the MOTU website, where you'll also find a bundle of software and loops including a lite version of their own Digital Performer software. It's a small point, but there are so few bad things I can say about these interfaces that I have to make a meal of the ones I find. They also have their own Monitor button to enable direct monitoring. So you could monitor vocals directly through the interface on input 1 while running your guitar through virtual amp modelling software on input 2. I can't think of any other entry-level audio interface that offers these two features independently on each channel. A knob that mixes between direct and software output is present on the M4, but not on the M2. The M4 also has another single button to turn on direct monitoring for inputs 3 and 4. Rounding off the front panel are nicely large monitor knobs and single quarter-inch headphone sockets with volume control.
The M4 also has another single button to turn on direct monitoring for inputs 3 and 4. Pearljam Master Contributor.

A song of ice and fire books goodreads
Both the M2 and M4 are priced at the top of this bracket of audio interfaces, and you might have to factor in an additional USB cable, but they are worth it. Sep 17, Dink. I use headphones a lot with various impedances ,. For casual listeners like me who are fed up with paying a premium for a DAC's balanced output, this the best bang for the buck. It would be nice to see a monitor mix dial on the M2, as on the M4, which would allow you to adjust the level of sound coming from your inputs, versus the sound coming from your computer. If you were to compare it with the M4, which has the extra 2 line inputs, the M4 is slightly heavier and bigger. The M series are the first foray into the home recording market. Search titles only. Some say it sounds the best in the price range, others say it sounds narrow and it lacks low end, and that Audient ID14 sounds much better. Dec 9, b
The M2 offers more flexibility and a better user experience than your average entry-level audio interface. To the right is an LCD screen. This screen displays the levels for each input and the main output.
This used to be a very complicated process, but can now be achieved with minimal effort through the MOTU M2. They are not made in the USA anymore, they are made in China now. At a more relaxed 64 samples I measured the latency at 5. Log in. The first one I had also had pretty bad light leakage on the edge of the screen. Top Bottom. Its DAC sounds nice enough, but forget about comparing it with more expensive DACs such as the RME, because you'll notice that in comparison it tends to sound lighter and fuzzier in general or less "analog", if you prefer. Yes, I have been using the M2 for my YouTube reviews, headphone listening and plan to use it to hook up some small monitors at some point. Joined Jan 22, Messages 1, Likes Another noteworthy feature are the decent rocker-style power switches so, unlike many other interfaces in this class, you can turn the thing off without having to unplug it. The M4 is very similar to the M2, and uses much of the same components and circuitry. Do you need more for regular recording? Best deal on Amazon. The preamps are high-quality, and emit little to no noise.
