I've tried various hex sockets sizes and none seem to fit. Have you tried half sizes like 4. If it's actually a long hex shaft You could use an Allen wrench of the correct size I would think? If that's the case I would find a Hex wrench of the correct size and cut it to length so you could use a socket on the protruding end. There are Hex sockets that have longer shafts that could possibly work as well. Good luck finding a solution.

I dont think anyone has actually measured the cams to determine how far of an adjustment one can do if you can make it adjustable If you can keep us informed on the project, if anything the stock airbox is holding the motor back A good flash, pipe and a dyno tune gets you more for less than fooling with stock cams. I assume you're dealing with class rules by not putting lumpier bump sticks in it. We messed with it A LOT. Only able to get 5hp and that was a degree of advance on slotted cams AND decked head stock airbox per rules. Anything else had significant adverse effects up and down the power curve, all else being stock. Is there any evidence of this? I seem to recall someone on the forums who reported the enigne failing at whp after doing a ton of egnine work to the bike. It was used as justification that the turbo kit that's out for our bike isn't a good idea claims hp or something at 7psi. By using this site, you agree to our Terms of Use. Recommended Posts.

For the Australian and New Zealand markets, the bike is available in cc In most respects, the MT is a conventional middleweight naked bike. The anti-lock braking system is available as an option on — models, but became standard equipment in Both the MT and the MT are base models from which a range of derivative bikes was intended to follow. In June , Kimura revealed the machine, which he called "Faster Son". Motorcycle News said that they expected Yamaha to announce a production version based on "Faster Son" in late The MT received positive reviews from motorcycling journalists.
So it should come as no surprise that, when relaunching the motorcycle four years after its initial unveiling in , the Japanese company has made what appear to be little more than a handful of very minor changes. Styling changes see new faux-air scoops, a redesigned tank, a larger headlight and, most significantly, a new tail. The indicators have also been moved off the nose fairing, and the seat has been redesigned, which also gives a tweaked riding position. Perhaps most significant though is the revised suspension, which sees new settings throughout, and a rebound adjuster on the back. The question is… can these mods keep the market leader out front for another four years? Compare the previous model MT in red to the new one in blue and the styling differences become clearer. Of course, the weakened pound is seeing many imported goods increasing in price, not to mention the fact that a source from Yamaha Japan told me a couple of years ago that the MT was built with a ludicrously small profit margin.

With refreshed styling, updated systems, and a very affordable price tag, this entry-level streetfighter is set to take North America by storm this year. To emphasize that fact, we rode the new MT through a blinding rainstorm to find out what Yamaha had actually built us. Turns out, it's everything we wanted and then some. Yamaha cranked up the styling volume for the new MT by fitting body panels that give it a more aggressive appearance. The reshaped headlight has an edgier contour but remains a single halogen bulb setup. This retains slim proportions when riding. Available in three dark, edgy-looking colors—Matte Gray, Intensity White, Team Yamaha Blue—all come outfitted with blacked-out controls and hardware. The only shine comes from the exhaust, brake rotors, and top of the fork stanchion.

The biggest hassle is getting everything off to get to the plugs of course. Now if some ask about the part I will deal with that then. It seem like they all work, thx for the effort Mickey63 I am from 66 myself and we are quite a few in here with the high age. I was wondering if you simply removed the CCT and then reset it and then reinstalled it on your bike OR did you remove any engine covers in order to be able to maintain tension on the cam chain when the CCT was out of the bike?
You see, it might seem like this is the best job in the world to a motorcycle enthusiast, which I can assure you… is absolutely true. We had traveled across the world to ride the MT and were the last wave of journalists from all over the world to do so. It would just so happen that our four groups of journos would also be the only ones putting up with the torrential downpour that would intrude shortly into our ride day.
That's not been the case with the So I figured to remove it you wind CCW until it stops, unbolt from block, then to replace you tighten it up to fit it in, replace the bolts, then remove key to snap the spring back outwards since it is self-adjusting The biggest hassle is getting everything off to get to the plugs of course.
