I have spent a fair amount of time on the NOAA website and I really like the capabilities of the NBDC, but it seems like most of the places I plan to boat only have half of the information listed. Why don't they list "wave height" for instance on the bouy inside of grays harbor? Back to top. Posted: Thu Jun 27, pm Post subject:.

As for the limit of only 12 hours, I'm sure it has to do with the reliability of the prediction decreasing as the time of the prediction increases.

And NWS certainly issues a "chance of rain on Tuesday" sort of forecast several days ahead, so you'd think they must calculate the probabilities farther out. But for hours farther out, only 1 hour probabilities are given. Also, note that the output of the time value is in seconds from midnight just like how AppleScript calculates time when you get the "time of current date " value. Ideally, it would retrieve the POP probability of precipitation and I could then decide based on the likelihood of rain whether or not to water. This weekend looks like it will be really calm in Westport if you decide to go. The NDFD is one example of this transformation. There are 2 fields per line. It's kind of odd, since NWS obviously forecasts the chance of rain a day or more in advance. Time values lower than the current time, represent seconds from midnight of the next day e.

I prefer the hour chance of rain forecast provided by Weather. I check twice everyday during the week prior to going so I get a good feel for the weather pattern. After 12 hours in the future, it's probably not possible to reliably predict precipitation to within 1-hour increments. Ideally, it would retrieve the POP probability of precipitation and I could then decide based on the likelihood of rain whether or not to water. You can go across the bar and drop in the ocean, but stay away from the commercial guys. Where do you go for weather and wave info? Plus, there are pot bandits in the area; you'll want to stay close and monitor. From the official NOAA website: Covering the sun to the seas, the National Weather Service provides local and regional forecasts, and emergency alerts for severe storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, extreme heat, winter storms, fire threats, tsunamis and solar flares. The output from that shell script is a basic CSV with the predicted chance of precipitation for the next 12 hours from Weather. For wind, waves, swell height and swell period I use the Swellwatch website.
I am sorry, that has interfered... This situation is familiar To me. Let's discuss.
