Oceania regatta reviews
Capacity: Regatta-Class with passengers staff. Year built: refurbished Oceania regatta reviews During the Australian summer, Regatta arrives for a number of sailings around New Zealand and Australia before returning to the United States via Papeete for the Alaska season.
You might call Regatta the perfect "Goldilocks" ship -- it's not too big, not too small, but rather just right. With only passengers, you never feel like you're in a herd of cattle; there's plenty of space, whether you want to sit quietly with a book or hang out at a bar. The ship is big enough to feature a range of facilities, from lounges like the Horizon's ship-top observatory to the Martini Bar and from restaurants such as the Italian Toscana to the poolside Waves Grill. Even better: Regatta's size gives it a cozy, sociable ambiance and means it can access out-of-the-way ports of call that are off-limits to mega-ships. Oceania is known for its cuisine, and Regatta lives up to the reputation.

Oceania bills itself as luxury cruising with gourmet dining. It misses both those marks by lack of attention to the details that separate luxury from everyday. The very first impression is when you are checked in. Instead of entering into a beautiful lobby, you are herded into the back door by the Regatta Lounge. Instead of actually going into the lounge, a staff member briefs a group on the life boat procedure while you are standing in the back of the lounge. When it is over, you are dismissed to wander away with no direction. But the worst part is the smell of cigarette smoke that you immediately note on entering the ship. It is pervasive in most areas including the stairs. There is a glass smoking lounge in Horizon's that does not contain the smell. It was so unpleasant I did not go to the lounge more than twice.
