Outlast 2 takes place in the same universe not long after the first game, but features a different setting and new characters. Like the two previous titles, the game is built in Unreal Engine 3, but slightly modified. Developers commented that in this way, they can repurpose all the assets from previous games, such as animations, scripts, etc. Players are able to run and crouch behind objects to avoid their pursuers, prone beneath obstacles, as well as hide within various places, whether it be a barrel, locker, tall grass or a pool of water. The Outlast Trials delivers a scary uncertainty with immersive gameplay that harkens back to the first Outlast game. This is a fun title that has a good amount of difficulty to it, where you can play it solo and still have fun even though this is mainly a co-oping experience.
