He was the right-hand man of Emperor Belos and the former head of the Emperor's Coven. After his promotion to head of the Emperor's Coven , the Golden Guard acts as the main enforcer for Emperor Belos and antagonist to the residents of the Owl House. However, a chance encounter with Luz Noceda , and the meeting of a mysterious palisman named Flapjack who chooses Hunter as his partner, gives Hunter a new perspective and a glimpse of life outside the Emperor's Coven. Hunter , formerly known as the Golden Guard , is a major character of The Owl House , being originally depicted as an antagonist. Hunter was presumed to be the nephew of Belos and as such, he was dedicated to his cause of ending all wild magic in the realm, but in reality, he is the latest version of the Golden Guard clones created by Belos to serve him faithfully in his mad quest. Upon this discovery, and realizing he can never go back, Hunter abandons Belos and the Emperor's Coven altogether. Following his desertion, Hunter relocated to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics in order to hide from the Emperor's reach. There, he found acquaintances in Hexside's students, and after coming to terms with his identity, Hunter made it his goal to help them stand against Belos' plan to wipe out the Demon Realm. Hunter, like many of the Golden Guards before him, was created with the likeness of Belos' late older brother, Caleb Wittebane. He has a fair complexion, a slightly hooked nose, dark magenta eyes, thick black eyebrows, a gap between his front teeth, bags under his eyes, and ash-blond hair that is shaved below the top, with a long, jagged forelock. He has a notch on his left ear and scars on his right cheek, upper left arm, two on his right kneecap, forming an X-mark, and one on his left calf. He is described as scrawny by Amity in " Eclipse Lake ". While staying in the Human Realm, Hunter had his hair and forelock trimmed by Willow, giving him short bangs. When Belos possessed him, parts of Hunter's skin, left ear, and face became basil-green that spread to his arms, turning them into the ones of Belos' corrupted form while also gaining the blue eyes and antler-like horns of the latter. His hair also grew longer, which restored his forelock bang.
Hearing this, Hunter gives off owl house hunter golden aura and teleports out of the vines and comforts Willow, saying she means a lot to him. He pulls Luz aside and tells her of his sighting and reveals the plan to surprise her with the rebus.

We're both trying to show what we can bring to the table. Lilith describes Hunter as a brat who is well renowned within the Emperor's Coven and would always receive special treatment for being a "genius teen prodigy", [10] though it's possible that Lilith exaggerated this out of jealousy. Originally, Hunter is tasked by the Emperor to find Titan's Blood for his next mission, but Belos opts to replace his nephew with Kikimora. Like with Flapjack, Hunter loves Waffle very much and is shown to be very close to her, with the two often remaining at each others' sides during Hunter's carving of palismen for others and when having fun with their friends. He wore a golden pauldron on his left shoulder and a pointed two-faceted mask with a thin eye-slot across it. Later, she gets angry at Hunter for doubting her ability to turn into a Harpy. After realizing that Kikimora wants to kill Hunter, she saves his life, even though she makes it clear that she doesn't like him. The Emperor, however, forgives Hunter, as he knows that he can do better. This causes Belos to lash out and just barely miss hitting him with a sharp tendril. In " Hollow Mind ", Hunter is continuously frustrated with Luz's antics during their journey in Belos' mind. Additionally, a red tattoo of a cardinal covers the place on his right arm where his coven sigil had previously been, to symbolize the loss of Flapjack. Shortly before Halloween, he and the others are in the Old House learning Spanish when Amity says they should do more. There, he meets Willow and, after some hesitation, decides to join her flyer derby team, consisting of Himself, Willow, Gus Porter , Viney , and Skara. The Owl House centers itself around several outcasts bonding.
Despite his laid-back persona, Hunter was easily annoyed when things didn't go his way, as seen with his early interactions with Luz. After being placed in the Archives, Amity manages to move and creates a light glyph to free her and the others. The duo first met each other in "Eclipse Lake", where Hunter is captured by Amity and is forced to follow her, Eda and King into the mine tunnels. To make matters worse, a dragon attacks, causing the ship to crash-land near Latissa. But most of all, I'd like to make sure you never hurt anyone again! After realizing Hunter's identity on account of his "annoying voice", Eda and Amity capture him and tie him up. He either used white or purple socks and for footwear, red sneakers and the crocs. Willow finds him cutting his hair in the bathroom and neatens it up for him. Luz comes up with a plan to get the palismen away from Kikimora while en-route to the Emperor's Castle. He was, however, more laid-back and easygoing than Emperor Belos, sometimes comedic and snarky in his dialogue. Over the course of his stay in the Human Realm, Hunter typically wore a variety of short-sleeved button-down shirts, khaki shorts, no show socks and white crocs. After fighting side-by-side in the old mine, Hunter acknowledged that the little bird never left his side and finally began to bond with him.
