Pathfinder bard handbook
The remastered Player Core book for Second Edition Pathfinder makes some substitutions for which classes are featured in their main roster.
Note to readers: Welcome to my first Pathfinder Handbook, the guide to Bards. I would like to remind all readers that I cannot edit this post. Mistakes, additions, or any other kind of edit will never be seen in this post. However, please take a look at this Google Document of Treantmonk's Guide to Bards which not only has lots of nice pretty pictures, and different colors, but will also be edited as required, so, the longer this post is here, the more reason you have to click the link, rather than read the rest of this post here. Pathfinder bard handbook
Bards are the experts and the performers of the adventuring world, shredders of guitars and seducers of dragons, bards can be built into sly party faces, skill masters, and cornerstone party buffs. But building anything in pathfinder takes some serious work, and optimization can require a lot of digging and reading for just the right options. The exact nature of a bard has been knocked back and forth a bit over the decades. We can hone bards down to experts and performers , a bard is knowledgeable, practiced, and in pathfinder they have the power to channel magical power through their performances. Mechanically, you can reshape your bard to fit practically any role, though the easiest fit is often the face of the party, party buffer, and the skill master. Bards get light armor, shields, simple weapons, and a smattering of thematic martial weapons. Plan on utilizing your spellcasting and performance rather than relying on your AC and damage output. This grants you a bonus to ALL your knowledge skill checks equal to half your bard levels, and lets you make any knowledge check untrained. As a bard, your performances are more than mere entertainment and you get a long retinue of magical affects you can create through your instrument or even just your voice. Most bards can perform any of these bardic performance abilities, though some can only be done using visual performances, auditory performances, or both. Then you pick up another 2 rounds each time you gain a bard level. You can start any bardic performance as a standard action, though that gets reduced to a swift and finally a free action at higher levels.
All your starting weapon proficiencies — simple weapons, unarmed attacks, longsword, rapier, sap, shortbow, shortsword, and whip — increase to expert level. The Archer Bard uses arrows to pound away at enemies between pathfinder bard handbook. In the end, it's a few extra HP, nothing too special.
The Bard is a versatile spellcasting class that can thrive in a variety of roles. Their signature role is as a Support character, but they can also serve as a Healer, Librarian, Scout, and Utility caster depending on your build. Successful bards needs to be very comfortable with managing their action economy, tracking status conditions, and supporting the party indirectly. Key Ability : Charisma. This makes the bard a natural Face, and makes it easy to capitalize on things like innate spellcasting from your Ancestry. Expect to invest in Dexterity and Constitution just to stay alive. You also need to learn the same spells as multiple levels if you plan to heighten them, which is a difficult cost to pay.

You get the Counter Performance Focus Spell for free at 1st level, but characters multiclassing into the Bard would need to take the Counter Performance feat to get it. Bards also have Focus Cantrips.

Lore Master: Once you are level 5, you can take 10 on knowledge rolls if you like, and as a standard action you can take 20 on one knowledge roll per day, and you can do it more often as you increase levels. Blueshift Nine, LLC does not warrant that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components. Again, I'd recommend checking with your GM before making your decision. If so, I think you are reading the ability incorrectly. This guide is designed to help you to make the best decisions on making your Bard the most effective at what he can do. A bit more situational, but I still value this feat highly. However, too often is the term "JoAT" used Jack of All Trades , when in truth, the Bard's ability to do "fill any role required" in a party is also often overstated. Overall, OK but not great. Dodge: Is a requirement for mobility Mobility: Is a requirement for shot on the run Shot on the run: Specifically you want this at higher levels to use on your Phantom Steed. When paired with the maestro's lingering composition, you can instead trade one action and a focus point for three or four actions on your quickened ally.

Welcome to pathfinder The Bard gets their second Versatile Performance at level 6, but there is very little need for more than two, so no one would fault you for only taking two performance skills. Can you see how this works? I quoted the line of the book relating to armor check penalties. Not only that, but these Feats are considered excellent choices for classes that need higher DCs or AC. Generally you mix between skirmisher and caster. An OK ability, but at that level, not a big deal. This means you trip the guy in melee with your party brute. So for example, if I was playing a Human Bard with a 15 point stat buy my stats would look something like this:. If you target a member of your party who is going to ensure to stay near the caster In this way, bards benefit from having a large group to receive the buffs. Or are you suggesting that the 10 round duration means that you re-create an Inspire Action effect every round for 10 rounds? Few campaigns ever reach 20th level, but if you reach this capstone the ability can be a knockout for even the most powerful bosses. Also note that many colored items are also links to the Paizo SRD.
