I got my shipment from State Line Tack on Wednesday afternoon.

Hello Smart People! I have a plain old plastic manure fork that is useless for frozen-ish poops in barn and haybale area plastic tines snap. If the manure is frozen to the ground I either kick it loose or I use a hammer to dislodge it. Then I simply use my plastic fork to clean it up. I have used a 10 tine metal fork to clean stalls many times in my life. They always came with the same length handle as the plastic forks do. Can you just buy a new handle for the fork you have that you like, that the handle is too short for you?

I want a manure fork for picking manure piles from my Coastal Bermuda pastures. If you have not seen Coastal Bermuda, it spreads by growth of stolons in a mesh along the ground. Standard manure forks, even the metal tine variety for stall use are are just too flimsy to fight the grass runners. A standard pitchfork has tines strong enough, but the tines are too far apart and the handle to head angle is just too flat. I am not sure what the weed is that make my life miserable at times, but I totally get the struggle. I have been known to use a small rake and a shovel in these situations. Rake the manure into the shovel to pick it up. I just tease the pile off the ground as best I can and am ok with some of it closest to the ground not making it out. That way not much of the tines have gotten under any runner. There are pitchforks that have many tines like a stall fork. Although you might be better rolling it onto a big scoop shovel with your foot or a flat edge shovel instead of forking it. The trick with the fine-tined metal fork is to ever-so-slightly change your angle when scooping under the poop pile. Still picks up the poop just fine but prevents the points of the tines from getting stuck in the grass. It is a dethatching rake and works miracles with a light, springy tug through thick grass and it pulls out all the thatch and debris that settles into the grass. I never thought of it as a manure rake, but it could definitely pull stuff out of bermuda.

And it was cheap. Does anyone know where to get hay fork handles any more? GL,fel, brush hog, pallet forks, disc, gannon, auger, springtooth, plow, drag, ripper.

I need to replace a pitchfork handle. I think I remember my dad saying you could heat the tang on the head of the fork before tamping into the handle. Is this a good idea? Since the tang on the head are tappered heat it up hot enough to burn the wood as you drive it in. If you drive it all the way in with the metal hot, when the metal cools it will shrink and be loose. I would'nt heat the tang. It is true that metal will expand get larger in OC when heated but unless you have good control of the heat it can also weaken the metal and make it more prone to rusting.

A well-designed manure fork should be lightweight, durable, and allow for easy pickup with minimal spillage. Sadly not. Most manure forks are lacking in at least one of these areas. But here are 5 of the best that tick all the right boxes. While they may differ in their construction, with some being made from polycarbonate and others steel, along with their capacity, and number of tines, rest assured that they will get the job done and withstand extensive, daily use. The Little Giant DuraPitch 2 is a favorite with people who clean several stalls every day. Firm but flexible the fork is well-designed to ensure no shavings are left behind. A common problem with some manure forks is material falling out the sides and back but there is no issue to be found here. View on Tractor Supply.
