An expert that has played these games far too many times through his life so far, which probably means I need to get out more. Picking which critter is going to lead your team is one of the toughest decisions ever. Pokemon Red and Blue first introduced us to the concept of elemental moves being more effective against other creatures or, in some cases, just not effective at all. Those same problems transfer through onto the GBA with FireRed and LeafGreen, but who is the best fighter of them all, and which starter is best leading your team. Especially because Water moves are super effective! I never really tend to go for Grass type Pokemon , even though Venasaur is on the front cover of the game and basically telling me to pick it. Attack and Defence. He has the second best Sp. Attack behind Bulbasaur but rocks the best Speed stat out of everyone. So, if getting that first hit is super important to you and you live setting things on fire in the game, of course , then give Charmander a go! Not only does it walk the first two gyms with ease, but it also has the best chance of making things easier for you the further you get through the games. Attack and Defence to the table. Blastoise has better Sp. Defence and lower Sp. Attack, whereas Charizard ultimately ends up with higher Sp.

Lance: Blastoise and Venusaur are the best options.

Will their rankings stay consistent, or are the changes in generation three enough to shake things up? Overall, Bulbasaur has perfect typing for the early-game, has a great movepool with tons of utility, and makes building a balanced team by the mid-game much easier, making it our top choice for FireRed and LeafGreen. The second and bigger problem is that everything the Squirtle line does, your free Lapras does as well or even better, thanks to its additional Ice-typing. Still a solid choice, Squirtle gets our second-place pick. Unfortunately for Charmander, its type disadvantages against the first two Gym Leaders are too crippling to ignore, and few options exist on the early routes to provide players with other coverage options. That concludes our ranking of the FireRed and LeafGreen starters. This doubles their Speed in Sunlight which is set up with Sunny Day. So that leaves Blastoise and Charizard. Especially because Water moves are super effective! Squirtle 2. Charizard can do something and Venusaur is horrible. If you want to go hard on Attack as the game progresses but fancy a much tougher challenge, then go for Charmander. Charmander, it becomes a red flying fire breathing dragon. You are using an out of date browser. It's utility compared to the others isn't as good however it is one of the best Fire type you are gonna be able to access. Surge, and a lot of potions Wartortle can do something and Charmeleon isn't a good match for the fight. So my vote would be to use Charizard. Ivysaur can do something and Wartortle not. Charmander is im my book the second best all-time starter only surpassed by cyndaquil, pure fire. Flareon is also a good option but seeing as Electric types are lacking here you may want to use your Eevee for Jolteon instead if you can't get your hands on a Pikachu for Raichu. View Post.
