Ret paladin rework

Ret paladin rework the title suggests, what was the point of the rework? You hook us with a lot of great ideas and proceed to gut the entire rework inside of three weeks. What was the point of the passive-aggressive nerf before the weekend on the eve of the patch? Thanks for nothing.

By Staff , January 28, in News. Blizzard have announced some big changes coming to Retribution Plaladins with the next content patch, with a rebuild of the talent tree from the ground up! Check out all the details below:. Rebuilding the Retribution talent tree from the ground up means significant changes ahead. However, the talent tree itself will not be available in our first PTR build s , so initial testing on the PTR will be missing important context.

Noooo its not negative Its insulting We got a decent rework but got mastery nerfed to the ground so we now have no bis stat. How much AOE can you do at all in std single target raid spec The important factor for me would be It's similar. Ret can't go for Hybrid builds without massive loss to the other profile. No mention of the mana change, yet another "pve aimed" nerf that applies only to pvp. On another note, low skill floor yee I wonder why, could it be that the dominant talent is the one that does it all for you and you dont even have yo worry to even press it? Crusading strikes needs to be nerfed to templar strikes level then we can imcrease skill floor and ceiling.

Because of this, combined with the fact that you have have a smaller Execution Sentence window every 30 seconds that is very reliant on RNG for your holy power generation, the skill expression in the Execution Sentence windows is quite small. I am talking about the core gameplay, ret paladin rework.

My name is Masky. I am a long-time retribution paladin main who has raided with the spec on and off at a decent level since Legion. Throughout the years I have done my utmost to minmax this spec to bring out the strengths of it. This has been a greatly enjoyable playstyle for me, and as I understand it many others, as it has been extremely rewarding to execute properly. Like many others I was very excited for the retribution paladin rework as the spec had been suffering from some glaring faults for a very long time. I was excited to get a broader defensive toolkit and some much-needed QoL updates. By far the biggest win for retribution after the rework is the defensive capability of the spec.

Great write up. So far my biggest problem is the same you wrote about Retribution Aura. I've never liked "bring the class not the player" because it has the effect of leaving players behind. If you're stuck in a class or spec you don't like, but can only get into a raid or dungeon if you choose that spec or class, the game isn't very fun. As far as reworks go, having the guide writer say "I love everything but this one thing," is super encouraging! Need to also talk about the new instrument of retribution passive giving wings when an ally dies. I don't want to benefit from my friends dying. If Wings of Liberty could end with consecration

Button bloat : Retribution Paladins currently have a fairly large number of abilities, and some of these feel unnecessary and inefficient. Stacking modifiers : There are currently several talents and abilities that provide stacking bonuses, which can make for a confusing and messy playstyle that deals extreme burst damage, but in return leaves your core abilities feeling unsatisfying and under-tuned. We intend to significantly change this. We want your core abilities to feel good and powerful when used in all situations. Survivability : Retribution Paladins currently have one of the highest death rates across all forms of content.

The devil is a part timer second season

This i very much agree with but i think the bigger offenders are the talents prior those, Blades of light, Burning Crusade and Penitence. Many specs, to include dps specs, have lower cooldowns on cc prevention. Fixed an issue that caused Reactive Resin to apply to the Restoration Druid if heal over time effects were dispelled after being spell stolen. Im growing tired of luck based rotation. However, we want to set clear expectations. You dont lack AoE infact they need to nerf your AoE even more. While it's good to have a spec be accessible, you also need to keep the incentive for improvement at it for everyone else. You still do way more damage inside of cds than outside, about the same as before. Yep, this was so close to being great and then you just gut it like a stuck pig destroying months of work in 1 to 2 days. Fixed an issue causing unintentional Divine Purpose and Empyrean Power proc consumption. Ret is perhaps the simplest spec in the game. As it is right now, Paladin is going to be head and shoulders above every other class in the game in terms of durability. Regarding your thoughts on talents such as Blades of Light and Burning Crusade, I wholeheartedly agree.

Gameplay wise it feels a lot better. It seems that so far the most successful rework will be mage. Fixed an issue that caused Reactive Resin to apply to the Restoration Druid if heal over time effects were dispelled after being spell stolen. This topic was automatically closed 30 days after the last reply. Crusading strikes needs to be nerfed to templar strikes level then we can imcrease skill floor and ceiling In pvp Rets off healing usufulness stops with nerfed Lay on Hands that has a loooong cooldown, WoG and FoL dont heal for any meaningful amount so spending mana on them is a waste of time. Great, now people will be forced to run 2 paladins instead of one. There's virtually no talent diversity based on the encounter since you only have one viable way to build your tree, even when there are extra targets you could cleave. Everything else is either garbage, like the demo rework, or just so so, like ret pally. Unfortunately, with Aura Mastery still being tucked away in Holy, so if it has any strong interaction with Ret aura, then you probably just take a second Holy pal for that instead.
