User selects either Emulationstation or RetroArch because they want to stick to that one solution not randomly jump from one to another. RetroArch seems more versatile and user friendly for kids. When selecting Boot the RetroArch we do not want to see the Emulationstation at all. With current jumping from one GUI to another users get confused and quickly abandon this solution. On most sites, RetroArch is the ultimate all-in-one PC retro emulator, but i found other similar emulators, which is the best among the 5 emulators. Don't know much about the others, though. They are based off the same "library", emulation station, they use the exact same cores to emulate if I'm not mistaken. I've played with mostly with Retropie, though I've toyed with Lakka and Retroarch. It supports PC raspberry pi, etc.

It appears to bring with it: RetroArch and EmulationStation. RetroArch seems to be the same but with a different look. Very confused about RetroPie. As mentioned by mitu , configuring RetroArch independently isn't very intuitive. So I am confused a bit about your explanation on Lakka. I doubt that, but why not?
