Review nikon d3100

The Nikon D pushes reds, blues and some greens a bit, but actually slightly undersaturates bright yellow and some cyans. Overall saturation levels are quite good, and less saturated than the previous D model which was a little over-the-top in our opinion, review nikon d3100. The D's fine-grained saturation adjustment review nikon d3100 below also makes it easy to customize its color to match your personal preference.

Nikon D Until I sat down to actually write this review, it hadn't struck me how confusing the market placement of the Nikon D is. It's priced the same as the still-available D, which is in many ways a better camera. And with the exception of video, which many users don't care about anyway, it's very similar to the much cheaper D So while the D isn't a bad camera, and for the most part holds its own against competitors from other manufacturers, it still pales in comparison with its own line mates. The D has a very good noise profile; it matches and perhaps bests the current leader in the budget dSLR category, the Pentax K-x. The camera delivers excellent color reproduction in its default SD mode as well--a nice change from some overly saturation-pushing competitors like Pentax and Sony--and its metering and exposure system work reliably and well. Sharpness is, of course, lens dependent, but I was pretty happy with the various models I tested; generally, shots looked sharp but not oversharpened. In addition to the always reliable mm VR kit lens, I shot with the new pro-level mm f3.

Saturation Adjustment The Nikon D has a total of seven saturation settings available, three above and three below the default saturation. More saturated colors are located toward the periphery of the graph.

The Nikon D is an entry-level digital SLR camera boasting a newly designed megapixel DX format sensor, a quick-access Live View mode, one-touch Full HD video recording with autofocus, plus an interactive Guide mode, a sensor dust buster and an point autofocus module. Like last year's D, the new Nikon D is a rather small DSLR camera, although it does come with a fairly chunky right-hand grip that makes it better suited to hand-held shooting than some of its competitors. Still, expect having to find a place for your little finger under the camera if you have larger-than-average hands. The body itself is mainly plastic, but while the camera certainly doesn't feel as robust as some of the company's higher specified models, it still exudes a degree of quality you might not expect at this price point. This is helped by the surprisingly classy rubber coating on the grip, which also appears on the thumb rest in the back of the camera. The Nikon D's body is a new design, 30 grams lighter than that of its predecessor, but the designers have gone to great lengths to make sure most controls are in the same places as before. The most notable changes to the outside of the camera include the omission of the infrared remote sensor that used to be in the grip of the D the Nikon D accepts a wired remote release cable only , the appearance of a built-in monaural microphone on the front plate and an all-new drive-mode lever at the top which we love because it makes setting and checking the current drive mode very easy and straightforward , plus a spring-loaded lever in the back that takes you to Live View mode at the flick of a thumb. Said lever encircles a red button that acts as a movie shutter release, enabling one-touch video recording when you are in Live View. It also adds the very important advantage of Vibration Reduction. Nikon bodies don't offer any form of in-camera image stabilisation, unlike similar models from Sony, Pentax and Olympus, so the affordable mm VR lens is a good investment.

The camera's contrast adjustment and Advanced D-Lighting feature can further enhance highlight and shadow retention. The lower contrast setting helped to retain highlights and open-up shadows, without making the image too flat looking. More saturated colors are located toward the periphery of the graph. High ISO performance was well above average in our Imatest tests and for both available light test shots and shots taken with flash. The editing interface lets you crop and straighten still photos, auto-correct red-eye in flash shots apply ratings to individual pictures. Some very minor edge enhancement artifacts are visible on high-contrast subjects such as the crop above left, but overall results are excellent. In addition to the always reliable mm VR kit lens, I shot with the new pro-level mm f3. The crop above right shows some minor noise suppression, as the darker areas of the model's hair show good detail. Build quality will meet expectations for Nikon buyers at this level — and for such a light camera. Color balance is fairly neutral with the Auto white balance setting just slightly cool , though it shifts towards a blue cast at lower light levels. Though the location of some controls has changed, it has the same overall operation.
