Rindy and Marv first performed together in the 70's at Western Oregon University where they rindy ross in love and got married. While completing their teaching degrees, rindy ross, they began gigging in bands with Rindy playing sax and singing Marv's guitar-driven compositions. After teaching three years in Central Oregon, rindy ross, they took very early retirements and formed Seafood Mama - a wildly popular dance band that played every smoky hippy bar between Seattle and Portland in the late 70's. In they recorded Marv's song, "Harden My Heart" - which became their first hit and led to Geffen Records signing them.

Marv and Rindy Ross have been staples of the Portland music scene for decades. The couple who impressively celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together have also been playing music together just as impressive for over fifty years. After years of their musical successes, Quarterflash retired in The Trail Band would also retire after its own successful year run. Marv and Rindy would then go on to write, record and perform as a duet, but now decided it was also time to fully retire from the stage and live performing. The show was truly a special night celebrating memorable moments from their storied music career that featured two sets of music. There was great music, tons of laughter, and lots of love.

I first met Rindy in the early 80s when she and her husband Marv were riding the wave of their crossover hit Harden My Heart. After years of playing bars in the Pacific Northwest as Seafood Mama, they had recently been signed to Geffen Records, changing their name to Quarterflash. During their time with Geffen, they had four songs that charted on the top 40, and their self-titled debut album went platinum. They recorded a total of 13 albums and performed across the U. In Portland alone, the Trail Band's holiday show has sold out over times and raised more than a million dollars for the nonprofit Friends of the Children. Quarterflash continued to perform and record too during this time, releasing two more albums on their own label.

Quarterflash previously stylized as QuarterFlash was an American rock group formed in in Portland, Oregon. The group was formed by merging two popular Oregon bands, Seafood Mama formerly Beggars Opera and Pilot not to be confused with the Scottish band of " Magic " fame. The name came from an Australian slang description of new immigrants as "a quarter flash, three quarters foolish", which the Rosses found in a book at producer John Boylan 's house. And so actually getting signed was both exciting for me and definitely for Marv but also even a little bit frightening. This is so bittersweet. I want it to sell it. And thanks for the music.
