Rivervale is about 7 km from the city centre- which is actually very close. Anywhere within 10km is considered close to the city, and that close there is usually good transport or direct roads that are easily accessed. If you were fit, energetic and had the time it would be possible to walk into the city via Burswood now Crown Casino and over the causeway bridge over the river into the city. It would be a nice walk through parkland after you travelled down the last part of Grt Eastern Hwy. Otherwise car or bus is the usual way to get into the city from Rivervale.
