Chapters in this volume explore the Sabbath throughout time, rsc byu, examining the Old Testament and the New Testament; the post—New Testament Christian Church during the second through the fourth centuries; rsc byu rabbinic teachings; and modern efforts to keep the Sabbath relevant, including the Restoration and other Christian and Jewish efforts. This volume of collected essays is intended to assist disciples of Jesus Christ in coming to a deeper understanding of the Savior and his ministry through their personal study of the New Testament.

This includes research on the restored Church in relation to other cultures, religions, and the behavioral sciences, as well as the study of the ongoing history of the Church and its doctrines, the early Christian church, and the content and contexts of Latter-day Saint standard works including the Holy Bible. The RSC also seeks to improve interfaith relations and gospel instruction. Faculty members at BYU and at other institutions whose research agendas overlap with the mission of the Religious Studies Center are welcome to apply. Preference is given to applications from full-time professors, although applications from adjunct faculty with a productive record of scholarship will be considered. Funding levels depend upon the nature of the project and the number of applications received.

Believing that church leaders , not scholars, are the ultimate doctrinal authority, the RSC seeks to only add historical, cultural, and linguistic context and to explore new views of the LDS Church's religious tradition.
