If I shift my grip to where I can reach it, my trigger finger is now in position to tilt the muzzle left when I press the trigger. Using to hands to draw and release the safety is only barely better than having to rack the slide. My goal is to be able to draw, release the safety, acquire the target, and fire, and to make it seem like a single, fluid motion. I carry a security 9 on occasions I really dont have problem with the manual safety but better to carry with safety off like a striker fire first pull is hard which acts as a safety. I know the security 9 is not a striker fire it actually has a hammer but it is quite safe with manual safety off. Good luck.

While dry firing a bit, I noticed that the safety clicked off easily -- as it should -- but was very stiff going back on. But OK, I did it. Cleaned it up using some Q-tips and a little cleaner Frog Lube , and reassembled it. At first, the safety problem was similar: easy off, but very stiff going back on again. I kept working it while wearing a leather glove on my left hand for a bit more leverage. I thought maybe it'd break in. Then after about a couple of dozen clicks, it froze in the off position. I couldn't budge it. With a pair of large pliers I could twist it to the on position. I kept working it for another two dozen switches, but it didn't loosen up a bit.
He's such a laid back, small-town, easy going guy. Easy cheesy lemon squeazy. He said the new ones are still on back order two weeks after he put the order in.
It's quite a compact and lightweight hammer-fired pistol designed to be an inexpensive option for self-defense and concealed carry. This pistol with a single-action SA trigger relies on the use of the famous 9mm Luger cartridge. As the Security-9 is a mid-sized handgun, it means it's equally suitable for both open as well as concealed carry. Each machine has its own problems and the same is with guns. One of the most occurring problems with the Ruger Security 9 are related to its slide.

When I first inspected it, I found it was really hard to get the slide stop to set, but was told it would loosen up with firing, and slingshot worked fine. After about rounds, it's easier to set the slide stop. But the problem is the slide "locks out" on last round.

David38 August 21, , pm Guess I got unlucky in this case. Not surprisingly, he said send it back. The biggest problem I had with my EC9s is the magazine release was very difficult to push and get the magazine to release. No, I didn't see anything with it field stripped. I have the very cool little PC9. If not, he won't probably because he can't sell a repaired pistol as "new" even though mine was never fired , only used, so he'll lose money. Ok, so even though this thread is not exactly going viral , I'm going to use it as a chronicle, just for information of future readers about repair issues. They replaced the safety and extractor. Although not all of them are mechanical issues of the gun.

It would have to be great. Not sure how I'm going to be able to ship it. Guess I got unlucky in this case. Best, Rob. David38 August 21, , pm 8. Easy cheesy lemon squeazy. Please consider creating a new thread. I dropped the defective pistol off with him last Wednesday, and thought he said he'd already ordered the new ones. And yes, I know what you mean about the fact that putting the safety back on is a bit more difficult, and I agree with your reasoning about why it is that way; makes sense to me. I carry a security 9 on occasions I really dont have problem with the manual safety but better to carry with safety off like a striker fire first pull is hard which acts as a safety. I also have a Ruger EC9s but my safety works fine. No sooner than he said that, it totally locked onto "off" position, and even he couldn't budge it. In any case, it's unlikely that he's going to know by tomorrow when I'm there, so David38 August 30, , am I'll call Ruger tomorrow Saturday.
