Looking to get rid of pull cord and replacing with dedicated switch but would like to know if switches can be installed in each room leading into the shower as per two way lights etc Other issue would be to treat possible cause of cable melt but viewing forum, cable melt appears to be reoccurring issue whether it be down to installation all my shower switches installed by qualified electricians or it may be poor quality switches Have tried Crabtree CED LAP 45A and 50A pull cords May be silly question but would appreciate your views. We know the pain. But have you ever wondered why only your shower pull switch keeps breaking? Shower pull switches are designed to be turned off. If you always switch it on and off, it can damage the switch. Moreover, buying a poor quality switch can cause it to break. Other than this, a cramped wiring or a loose connection is to blame. Did you know that shower pull cords are meant to last for up to 10 years? Then how come your pull switch keeps breaking every other week?

Just get a good quality switch fitted and installed carefully. You may have to pull some slack out of that cable to strip the burnt wire off and that could be more of a problem than replacing the switch. This may be the root cause of the burn out issue, try to get a shower switch with 2 screws on each terminal, and, if possible, double over the conductors. My wholesaler stocks the Crabtree look alike Click shower pull cord switches, which seem okay. Screwfix Community Forum.

Hi, My shower stopped working the other day and the light on the isolator switch was also off so I opened to have a look. Also Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
