I actually had set out seiko 7002 do two watches- one for my dad and the other for my elder brother with the intention of having both ready by Christmas Eve.

But unlike their predecessors from the 60s and 70s, the SKX and divers weren't famous for their handsome good looks although they had it in plenty , which left a lot of them to the creativity of modifiers or modders , especially the Seiko models. A quick search on the net will net you har har a plethora of non-original examples of the Seiko watches. The extent of modding can vary - from a simple bezel change to an all out homage for something else that's famous. Which makes buying an all-original parts-wise at least that much harder. In my journey as a collector I've only come across a small sampling of originals, and I'm happy to say that I have bought them all.

They are everyday wearable, they perform well under any circumstance you can throw at them, and their legibility makes them practical for any manner of activity. My has these in spades. As an added bonus, I happen to enjoy the aesthetic of the watch, and I have yet to find a shade of NATO that takes away from that. These qualities make the watch a serviceable part of my rotation. From small things like turning 30, to big things like the birth of my son, this Seiko has seen a lot.

India is not the best place to find vintage watches for restoration. The lume used for this watch does not last long, usually fading to a dim glow after 5 mins of exposure. Pretty soon I had enough parts to put together a second Seiko 7002 movement, seiko 7002.
