I was hooked from the first episode, and constantly impressed with the directing, visuals, acting, and plot developments. As you can see from the reviews and ratings here, people loved this show and I'm no different.
Actually I noticed a running theme for this review I've written is the word "perfect". Lumon uses a "severance" medical procedure to severance reviews the non-work memories of some of their employees from their work memories.

What the company actually does — precisely what data the protagonists are actually spending their days sorting into unnamed files — is unknown. The first minutes gives you a scary idea of the world of the show and I loved it. The concept of the show is kinda freaky, will you as a fully-brained human, willingly sentence a part of yourself for slavery for 8 hours a day?. When her innie wakes up outside the office, she finds herself at a Lumon gala, where she sees a promotional video in which her outie sings the praises of severance. Every character in this series I find interesting and the development of the story so far mesmerising it will eventually span 19 episodes so a long way to go. Just watch it. At the start, much of the appeal comes from the weird feel and mystery about what the hell is going on here. The work Mark is just a little more bright-eyed and optimistic. But it quickly becomes clear just how untenable the solution is. The sense of discomfort — and, eventually, outright terror — grows as the show progresses, and you learn more about Lumon and what life is like in the basement. Linda Ronstadt has found another voice. All you have to do is read through the reviews and look the rating to see how much people think of this series.
A few minutes into the premiere of Severance , we see Mark Scout Adam Scott alone in his car, weeping uncontrollably.
A few standout characters Mark of course a recently widowed nice guy who like all the employees of Lumon is very efficient because at work personal problems are forgotten as that part of their memory has been voluntarily severed. More important, what business is Lumon in, anyway? On the outside, Mark is grieving the loss of his wife, and he signed up to be severed in hopes of avoiding those feelings for at least part of the day. So I'll leave you all with that, and watch the damn show already. The foreign students who saw Ukraine as a gateway to a better life. Just crazy and phenomenal. With no stress or anxiousness about work, you'll just show up, because that's what you are paid to do.
