Smiling on the outside Toad commonly referred as Toad is one of the three classic tritagonists alongside Peach Toadstool and Bowser in the SMG4 series. He is a sarcastic, immature, and possibly depressed servant of Princess Peach. Toad is also quite stubborn and is lots of trouble, especially when Mario or Toadette are involved. Alongside Luigi , he is often the victim of Mario and SMG4's antics and misadventures; he is sometimes subjugated by Peach. This causes him to be antagonistic at times since he despises almost everyone around him, including Mario, who he considers to be an idiot. He has an abusive relationship with Toadette as when the two are seen together, they are almost always seen fighting or arguing with one another, with Toadette normally being the abuser. When SMG4 made a meme featuring him and Mario , Toad gained some sanity, but developed a cynical personality due to the annoyance of Mario's new-found stupidity. Throughout the years, Toad had been miserable as a servant of Peach, and hated Mario for his retardedness. He had became a rude member of SMG4's Gang who often gets annoyed by the presence of others. Many terrible things had happened to Toad, which further grew his inner villainy. He once was rich and president of the Mushroom Kingdom for a day, and during those times, he abused his power against SMG4's Gang. Toad once tried to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom but was defeated.

Toadette is a classic recurring character in the SMG4 series. After she and Toad got together, she is known to be an insanely overbearing girlfriend, to the point where she's Toad's worst nightmare.
