They may also opt to enroll in other important coverages, including life insurance and both short- and long-term disability insurance. Employees will have up to 30 days to enroll in benefits from their hire date, and they can enroll as soon as their first day of employment. The availability of vital healthcare benefits on Day One of employment is also a valuable tool for recruiting talented employees in an increasingly competitive labor market. A gap in healthcare coverage, especially for their children, can create hesitancy for prospective employees considering a new position. This policy ensures that new employees and their families do not lose access to the healthcare they need.
