It uses the same 61MP sensor as its predecessor but includes a more processing power, a dedicated AI processing unit, new autofocus system, new IBIS and much more. It was a wonderful opportunity to find out if the autofocus is as good as advertised. Looking at the camera in a critical way makes me wonder: which photographer is the camera intended for? The A7R V uses advanced, highly-trained artificial intelligence to perform subject detection, recognition and tracking, including for a variety of subjects, such as humans, non-human animals animal, bird and insects , cars, bikes and planes. It's hard to ask for much more than that from a high-resolution full-frame camera. Noise becomes noticeable from ISO 12, and up. Not only is that significantly more detail than a single 61MP file, each pixel records red, green and blue information, so color accuracy and tonality is better. It's a case-by-case basis situation, as far as I'm concerned. With the Sony a7R V, you now have a bulb-timer at your disposal. For video, Active Mode image stabilization aids smooth handheld shooting, and can be paired with some lenses that feature optical image stabilization for even smoother video. I currently use the a7riii… 2 generations back LOL. As a medium format camera, it cannot match the overall speed and performance of the A7R V, but arguably resolution junkies will be less fussed about frames per second and subject detection AF modes and more concerned about colour, tone and resolution which the GFX S has in abundance, and it doesn't cost too much more, either.
