Speed check sr 71
I heard a Cessna ask for a readout of its ground speed. Moments later,a Twin Beech required the same. It was at that precise moment I realized Walt and I had become a real crew, for we were both thinking in unison.
So it comes as no surprise if, thanks to its astonishing flight characteristics, the aircraft has set numerous speed and altitude records throughout its career. People often asked us if, because of this fact, it was fun to fly the jet. Fun would not be the first word I would use to describe flying this plane—intense, maybe, even cerebral. We were monitoring various radio transmissions from other aircraft as we entered Los Angeles airspace. I heard a Cessna ask for a readout of its ground speed.

I don't know of any ludicrous speeding tickets so I can't participate in today's QOTD, but it did remind me of my favorite SR story. There were a lot of things we couldn't do in an SR, but we were the fastest guys on the block and loved reminding our fellow aviators of this fact. People often asked us if, because of this fact, it was fun to fly the jet. Fun would not be the first word I would use to describe flying this plane. Intense, maybe. Even cerebral. But there was one day in our Sled experience when we would have to say that it was pure fun to be the fastest guys out there, at least for a moment.

I never tire of that story. Growing up in an aviation family, I have heard endless cool stories but few so cool. One of my favorites was when my grandfather was flying when the F15 was in early flight development. The skies were much less busy, and there was a bit less formality. The two pilots were close enough to exchange waves, and moments later the F15 rocketed away. Most likely that day, the F15 was the fastest thing in the air for several hundred miles.
The SR was developed as a black project from the Lockheed A reconnaissance aircraft during the s by Lockheed's Skunk Works division. American aerospace engineer Clarence "Kelly" Johnson was responsible for many of the aircraft's innovative concepts. Initially, a bomber variant of the A was requested by Curtis LeMay , before the program was focused solely on reconnaissance. The SR was longer and heavier than the A, allowing it to hold more fuel as well as a two-seat cockpit. NASA was the final operator of the Blackbird, using it as a research platform; it was retired again in

And the reply, always with that same, calm, voice, with more distinct alliteration than emotion: "Dusty 52, Center, we have you at on the ground. Go to my next post. It was also limited in where it could operate out of. But, yeah, I've heard plenty of people, including other SR71 pilots in interviews, question the validity of Shul's stories. It's a pain to solder and weld I use it for wire-wrapping in various gauges, but cutting it is relatively easy, a good pair of hardened-steel thick wire cutters will absolutely shear it. I was sitting at JFK back in the day waiting for my flight back to London. The early 80s Corvette used titanium for the air filter cover. As a US friend of mine puts it: "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story". I'm not sure how to take this comment. There have been some cool jets at different times in world history, the Wright Flyer, the P Mustang, an F or F is always a head turner.
Is your argument that DoD fails audits because they don't have enough money? You're talking maybe two additional MBTs. I believe it. Your hazard warnings are noted though, and I definitely will keep it at lower temps. The SR would cruise at Mach 3, or three times the speed of sound. I guess it could be done as drop of pods or something. This is actually an engine limitation. The Concorde's problem was economics not science and a rocket based solution is even less economical - even a reusable one. British and French aerospace divisions were looking to create a brand new supersonic aircraft before plans to take the Concorde out of service in were realized. Starship potentially carries hundreds of warheads. I was beginning to feel a bit sorry for Walter in the back seat.
Yes well you! Stop!
Excuse, that I interfere, but, in my opinion, this theme is not so actual.
