Last Sunday I had the privilege of attending the final St. Thomas the Apostle parish mass to be held in our Lyons building on the Clyde North campus. It was a moving celebration I did shed a tear or two!
Pilot program for running Alpha in the parish. The Alpha Course has been designed around the core principles of the Christian faith. It's proven to be one of the most effective forms of evangelisation, especially when run by and through the local parish. This pilot program will be run among St Thomas the Apostle parishioners prior to opening up Alpha to the wider community. Training: there will be two training sessions for everyone involved in the Pilot dates below. Weekend away: The Alpha Weekend is a key part of the program.

Named St Thomas the Apostle , after the local Primary School, and with just 30 founding members, fast forward 11 years to Sunday 23 April , the doors of a brand-new St Thomas the Apostle Church were finally opened to a bustling community of over 1, people. The proceedings not only marked the beginning of a new chapter for the parish community but also a sign of new life and growth for the Diocese of Sale who welcomed the new Church opening — one of the few of its kind in 40 years. For almost 11 years, we were restricted in how many we could have at Mass, so many went to other parishes, or maybe not at all. So now it is about building the real Church: The People of God. On Good Friday we had over 1, people attend the afternoon Liturgy. Fr Denis, finally opening the new Church doors. The growing community has approximately 2, families registered as parishioners; however, the population growth is set to rise from 70, to more than , in the next decade alone.
Bishop Bennet said the turning of the sod symbolised the beginnings of a new Catholic primary school which will connect and shape the lives of generations of children to come in this new community at Farm Farms. Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Ms Maria Kirkwood, said the south eastern growth corridor was rapidly expanding with thousands of people moving into the area each year. The construction of St Josephine Bakhita at Clyde North aims to fulfil this need, providing families with access to a modern, affordable, faith-based primary school just moments from their home. Ms Kirkwood said the new primary school would complement St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Primary School which opened in nearby Cranbourne East eight years ago and now has more than enrolments. St Josephine Bakhita Primary School will be the 44th school to be added to the network of primary and secondary schools owned and operated by the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd. Sarah Bloom, Development Director — Victoria, Frasers Property Australia said access to quality education is essential for every community we create. For parents, enrolments will begin in term 4, and first term is expected to commence in The school will accommodate students at full enrolment.
