Surfmist house exterior
Hello, any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Hi all, I am currently building through Simmonds and stuck deciding on my exterior cement roof titles and brick colours. The front and fascade of the house is a pretty…. Dover white or surfmist garage door. I am having trouble choosing a garage door. The outside of house will be tranquel retreat.

Selecting colours for an exterior scheme can be tricky, mainly due to people not getting the tone quite right. Colours perform so differently outside to inside and we often don't take into account quite how much impact the sun has on an exterior colour palette. Colorbond Surfmist sometimes gets a bad rap however, let me show you why using Surfmist as a trim colour can be a good idea. I wrote this article in April and it is all still relevant today. However, Colorbond has announced in late August that they have a new white — Dover White. This is a lovely crisp white which I would now often recommend for fascias and downpipes. Surfmist is in the high reflective range of the Colorbond colours. You certainly wouldn't want to go lighter than this for a roof. In fact many local councils won't even allow Surfmist as they say it produces too much reflective glare for neighboring properties. I do understand though when people want to use Colorbond for their gutters and facias but also want a very crisp white trim. I would never recommend having gutters any lighter than Surfmist as they simply become too grubby too quickly. However, if you do want a crisper white for the facia, you can consider using powdercoated metal or a classic timber board that can be painted. Before going to these lengths though, I think that you should look at the main colour of your house to see whether Surfmist suits as a trim colour for your home. A current trend, particularly for coastal homes, is to use a white on the weatherboards.
Hi Samantha, Thank you so so so much for surfmist house exterior blog. You often only see the underlying colour in a white or grey when you place it next to another white or grey.
We are currently renovating our s brick home. Our plan is to paint the exterior brick white. Trims will also be white thinking a brighter white for some contrast , roof will be zinc and garage door will be colorbond surfmist. We will also have timber accents, including the front door vic ash and a deck at the entrance. We have tested the following shades - vivid white, terrace white and lexicon. At this stage we are thinking terrace white for the walls and vivid white for trims.

Finding the right white for an exterior project contains all the pitfalls that are there when selecting whites for an interior scheme, and more! However there are rules to follow and I have some great tips to help you to select a colour scheme for your white exterior project that you will love. This pretty cottage has Dulux Antique White USA on the walls, which looks lovely as it is in shadow and you can really see the creamy underlying colour. The trim in Dulux Vivid White, which is in the direct sunlight and offers a nice contrast. Do not underestimate the impact that natural sunlight will have on a white exterior scheme.

We are planning on porters paint Irish Linen for our interior walls. I am planning on installing a louvre system patio covering these windows. Briony Page says: Hi Samantha I have made selections for my new house. Dean says: Hi Samantha, Such a great thing you do in helping so many people with your wealth of experience. Good luck and I hope you love your new home. Hi Samantha. I had to use a timber cladding to match the existing cedar but the original had been poorly stained and I was never going to get a cohesive match between old and new. More information is here. We have tested the following shades - vivid white, terrace white and lexicon. Search instead for.

Hi Josie I think you need a darker colour on the feature which will make the surfmist look more white. I am sure it is going to look great! Very excited!! Im driving myself a little insane with greys and whites at the moment. I am not sure if we should repaint the eaves in the same whitish tone, or change them to classic cream to match the fascia and trims. Will get some samples before deciding!! So you need to decide whether you want a cool or warm grey. It has been very helpful in my search for the right colour choices! It may be worthwhile getting sample pots and painting a few areas around your home to see what it looks like in various light.
You will change nothing.
